2000 Boyle County.

Boyle big played Somerset to death. I remember a return and long passes for TD plays. Somerset was ball control using Stephens and even running Sexton I think it was for like 400 yards. Plus they had a few turnovers. It was a perfect game for Boyle and Somerset took their anger out on Corbin.

Stephen’s was unstoppable that night.

Always held that as one of the best that never won a title. Boyle’s one point upset was one of the best games I ever called. I think they were better than the 84 team.

I have it from good source that Keegan Kendrick of the Chargers has been approached for the position. It would be a great hire by Mercer if they could snag the coach of a former 6A Champ.

The First Coaches photo is from the 1976 Season I believe. Four coaches altogether. Varsity - JV - Freshmen. 1976 was 10-2 with wins over Harrodsburg and Henry Clay. The 2 losses were by 1 point to Frankfort on a KO return with about a minute to play and by 7 to Danville when Chris Jones returned a punt inside the red Zone with a couple of minutes to play and the Ads scored to win. C.T. Wolfe was my QB. Same class together. Started all 3 seasons.

100% agree. Tubby's coaching style helped that team not only win blowout games but close ones that allowed for comebacks. Pitino was not infallible. He got caught up in the moment in the '95 UNC game and did not reign in the bad 3 point shots when the Cats could not hit the broad side of a barn.

Boyle County. The subject I believe is favorite team. I'm going to the way back machine to my days. 1977. Rebels won only there 2nd District Title. Started year with early loss to Washington County then were destroyed by Harrodsburg 60-0. There were no real stars on this team that had lost over half their starters from the 10-2 the year before. Rebels rebounded and beat Chris Jones n Danville in the last game to earn enough points to claim the District. They were defeated by a strong Corbin team in the Regional. 1979. Lost over half their starters from the year before. Went 9-1 beating AA semifinal team Washington n Jeff Smith, #2 ranked at the time Harrodsburg, #4 ranked at the time Somerset, AAA District winner 10-1 Lincoln County and Danville. Missed the playoffs because of their loss to Russell County. DANVILLE 1984 AAA State Champs. 13-0. Duffy’s only unbeaten team and had a varsity roster of about 30 players. Strong Defense that blanked Cov Cath and nearly shutout Hopkinsville in the title game 24-6 Great group of kids.
