February 22, 201214 yr Really encouraging game this late in the season when you have a young team. Nice to get tested on the road going into the tournaments. I will completely agree with you but also add that while this team is young they are also very mature. I will also add that this team is going to run off of D. Miller come tournament time just like they did Harrellson last year. Fortunately for all of us D Miller is A LOT more versatile than Harrellson and that's no shot at him. We all were witness to Harrellson becoming a VERY influential player down the stretch and I really do think that's what we will see this year but Miller has the power to put them over the top.
February 22, 201214 yr I honestly feel like Teague slipped back into his old self last night when Bost started tearing it up. It seemed like he started forcing the the issue and didn't want to be shown up. He will be okay though. Was anyone else worried that when Teague got his technical and there was a Miss St. player laying on the floor, that Teague gave another groin shot? It immediately came to mind however I never saw the first so I was kind of passive not gonna lie.
February 22, 201214 yr I am not sure I have seen a worse execution than the first 10 minutes last night from UK. Davis took the words of Cal literally when he gave him the green light to shoot from long range. That green light really means yellow and it best be in the flow of the offense. Jones was weird like 80% of the time he plays; Teague was flustered (though he actually had decent numbers no more than he played); and Wiltjer went down like Nancy Kerrigan. The big adjustments came putting MKG on Bost defensively, and on offense inverting to have Miller and MKG on the post in iso situations. MKG was not to be denied. I think he has all the tools to be an NFL Pro Bowl TE, but we will see him on the hardwood through his life Is there a more disappointing talent in the country than Renardo Sydney? That guy was sweating like nothing I have ever seen just two minutes in to the game. W/ Davis shooting from range, he's going to have to. He has a good stroke. His shot looks fundamentally strong. He just needs to get confidence in it. If Davis can hit the 15 ft. jumper, w/ his ability to bounce and get to the rim in two strides, then the offense opens up even more.
February 22, 201214 yr This team goes only as far as MKG and Miller take them, only kids on the team who can get the tough bucket when you have to have it. Lamb can. They have enough shooters. It's all about match ups.
February 22, 201214 yr I would have passed on the T on Davis as IMO he was gaining his balance. There is no wording requirement that a player be directly under him to pass on the T. On the trip, in high school I would have tossed him. Not sure exactly what the wording is in college for a Flagrant 1 vs 2. I think what got him popped was the little leg kick he did while hanging on the rim. Not saying I agree with the T, but that's just my opinion.
February 22, 201214 yr I agree with creepy looking coaches. The Flagrant 1 on Moultre was the proper call. Can you tell us what exactly is a F1 and F2? Is there a link to that somewhere?

His intent was pretty obvious on the trip and I didn't see Davis doing chinups on the dunk.

February 22, 201214 yr Can you tell us what exactly is a F1 and F2? Is there a link to that somewhere? Flagrant 1 carries a penalty of two shots and the ball (the old intentional foul). Flagrant 2 is two shots, the ball and ejection of the offender. (the old flagrant foul with intent to injure). http://fs.ncaa.org/Docs/rules/mbb/2011/2011MBBfinalrules.pdf What Malcom White did to Anthony Davis, in the LSU game, was a Flagrant 2.

Not saying I agree with the T, but that's just my opinion. My problem with accessing a T in this case is that Davis had no way of knowing that the trailing players went around him until he hung and looked. If it were me, I'd swing my feet high and out of the way just in case they didn't. Had the players been 10 feet further back, then I'd agree with the technical. A guy has to be able to protect himself.

Thanks for sharing. I just think Mouldrie's intent was to hurt Jones. The push on Kidd-Gillcrest would be a perfect example of a Flagrant 1 to me. Wasn't trying to hurt MKG, just not a "basketball foul."

Wasn't trying to hurt MKG, just not a "basketball foul." Had Jones gone down, I'm certain it would have been an f2. However, the ref saw that Jones was unhurt, after he called the T, and made his determination on severity from there. I'm personally glad he didn't get tossed. State was already one man down. Don't want to give them too many excuses for folding tents.

But, is there a difference between "intent" to hurt and "succeeding" at hurting? Agree with you on last point. Would hate to give Crybaby Rick something else to blame this loss on.
