The issue should have been addressed at the beginning of the game or not at all.

Just putting this out there to see if anyone knows the answer (Clyde?)...since it was such a blatant change in the uniform color that everyone (refs, fans, opposing coach & team, etc.) as soon as the girls came on the floor for warmups...can the refs be pro-active in addressing the situation upfront during warmups, and ask the opposing coach if he had been made aware/approved the color change?

 

I mean, if the refs see all the girls wearing different colored headbands during warmups, do they have to wait until the opposing coach makes a "complaint" to enforce the rule once the game starts...or do they do that on their own as soon as the girls come out on the floor for the opening tip?

Proactive is always best. It's often necessary in girls games when it comes to the color of their hair bands. That's always a fun discussion to have with the coach.

That's what I would think. Besides, would "permission" (by the opposing coach) necessarily been in written form to begin with? If there's a chance there could have been a "he said/she said" type of moment, best to have it before the score/outcome could play a factor in motive.

I am saying that the officials knew that the uniforms were pink at the beginning of the first half. If they didn't call the technical then, they are wrong for calling t at the start of the 2nd half.

I know I would...what are they gonna do? Take away my $60 per game? lol. And as far as the headbands go, that has a very dramatic effect on the game. lol Some "rules" should be abolished, but it looks like common sense isn't really that common after all.

Many officials will agree with you about the headband rule. Coaches would as well. However, as I always say, they do not tell you which rules you can ignore and which ones you can enforce. You enforce them all.

 

Many fans do not like the rule that allows a player to call a timeout while in the air right before landing out of bounds. Are you saying that you would ignore that one? Would you ignore the rule that says a player must be listed in the scorebook 10 minutes prior to the game? It doesn't have an impact on the game, right?
