They're talking contract extension with Flacco. His agent is asking for top 5 QB money saying he's a top 5 QB in the league. I hope they tell him to take a hike but doubt it will happen.

On another note hearing rumblings of Brandon Llyod to the Pats. Makes a ton of sense.

Flacco isn't quite top 5, but they're not going to get any of the top 5 QB's unless they go sign Brees or get a (healthy) Manning. So if they can't get either of those two, might as well pay Joe to stay.

Bengals hire former Raider head coach Hue Jackson as an assistant to help with the secondary and special teams.

Ravens looking at Josh Morgan (he grew up there) and Lloyd. I still think Lloyd will end up with his old coach in NE.

Like I said I know the Ravens aren't the first team you think of but here is an interesting article about Flacco and his contract deal:

http://articles.baltimoresun.com/2012-01-31/sports/bs-sp-ravens-flacco-0201-20120131_1_joe-flacco-ravens-owner-steve-bisciotti-contract-negotiations

Personally I hope he goes. I don't like his baby attitude as a leader. To say it doesn't matter either way rubs me the wrong way. If you look big picture he has won a ton of games but when you look at the fine print his completion percentage was bad this year, he set a career high in int's and his QB rating was his lowest yet.

He has been blessed with a top 3 defense every year and Ray Rice is a flat out STUD to have lining up behind him. He's got talent at the skill positions. I think he's overyhyped. To me he's not the bottom QB's but he's not the top either. He's a middle of the road QB. He has a RB that is elite. He has a defense that is elite. He has skill at WR (they could use more but people have it worse). The Ravens can move him or get ready to invest A LOT of money into him as the future. You better be real comfortable if you're going to do that. I think the Ravens can win it with Flacco but it will be tough. I think the Ravens are the favorite with Peyton it's that simple!

Not going to happen and that is why they are looking into extending Flacco instead of going to get Manning. Don't get me wrong I think if Manning was healthy he would be great for them to get. However what I am saying is that they won't go after him, and I doubt that they are even thinking about it even a little bit. One thing people have got to remember is that these "elite" QB's play in offenses that allow them to become elite. They play in offenses that are wide open, spread the ball out, and allows them to get in a rhythm because of it. When you play in offenses like the Steelers, and Ravens your not going to be considered elite and as a top passer because of the offense. You don't get to really get into a rhythm because of how much they will run the ball, and then if they don't run the ball people complain how they are not giving it to Rice enough. Shoot many people didn't even consider Big Ben an elite thrower even after having a lot of success in the league. It was not until they became a pass first offense recently when people have seen that wow he can really throw the ball to like other top QB's. Systems people play in do dictate how good or elite a QB will be. Just like Manning probably would never have become the elite thrower he is, if he had played for the Ravens instead of the Colts for his career. Honestly he would have been a lot like Eli, a guy that people always fought about if he was elite or not.

I think that all comes down to how much do you trust your QB? You'd be crazy to not turn a Manning or Brees loose. Not so crazy to not turn Flacco loose. I think it's commical that his agent thinks he's top 5. He couldn't sniff Peyton, Brees, Rodgers jock.

As for Ray Rice...Marshall Faulk, Edge, Emmitt Smith etc were pretty nice backs in offenses that threw the ball.

When Flacco was coming out of college I said on here that I thought he would be better than expected. He has been. I just don't like or trust him. He has the arm to make all the throws but he rubs me the wrong way. I think he's overrated because he has one heck of a defense, one of the best backs in football+ a solid Oline. He holds onto the football WAY WAY too long! Right now off my head I'd rather have: Brees, Brady, Rodgers, Ben, Eli, Matty Ice, Cam Newton, Dalton, Vick, Romo, Peyton, Rivers, Smith, Cutler, Stafford that's just off my head + not even close to him being top 5!

From SiriusXM Radio; the Ravens have no interest in paying Ray Rice, Adrian Peterson type money

Honestly if I were any NFL GM, I'd stay away from Desean Jackson.

Amazing talent...major basketcase! He's not the kind of guy I'd want to build my franchise around. It would be a loss for Philly but they have Maclin+a lot of picks. I'm just glad they don't realize how good Shady is in Philly!

Jets who I have been saying all along. Just think the Sanchez time is up...

After 3 years? 2 of which ended in the AFC Championship game? I'd be shocked. Unprecedented...

It does not come down to how much they trust their QB with those teams. It's all about the philosophy teams like Pitt and Balt have, its not about trusting a QB. Shoot Big Ben can be one of the best passers in the game and has the weapons to do it. Yet they are even wanting to now get even more back to their running style. You put Flacco or Big Ben say in Green Bay's or New Orleans offense and those teams would still be passing the ball all the time with those guys. Which would also mean great numbers for those guys. It's the same reason why every single QB who starts for Andy Reid even backups have looked great, which is why Vick has become so much better. It's not like he learned how to throw while in Jail, but the system he is now allows him to be a better passer. It's why Matt Flynn who was I belive a 6th round pick, has looked great in his two starts. A system dictates how well a QB will do, a system can dictate if a guy looks like an elite QB or one that just manages a team.

I understand a system makes a QB better. So does a top RB+Defense which Balt has. You like Flacco I don't. I think he holds onto the ball WAY WAY to long and puts them in bad situations. He's good enough to win it all because of the defense+run game he has. End of the day I feel like you could stick about 15 QB's in the Ravens offense and they would be just as good if not better. He's shown flashes like the first Pitt game. For me he's too inconsistent though. No way in H he's a top 5 QB!!

On the rumor front Mike Wallace wants to go to San Fran or New Eng if he has too leave. Says he'd like to stay in Pitt but understands the money problems. Said he'd play for Balt. I really think he'll end up in San Fran which will make that team pretty darn good!

The Bucs appear to be trying to become the New York Giants of the south. They hired former NYG defensive coordinator (bad hire IMO) Bill Sheridan and they hired former Giants WR/QB Coach Mike Sullivan (great hire) to be their offensive coordinator. I believe they requested to interview Kevin Gilbride Jr. but the Giants blocked that move.

I'm also hearing they're going to pursue Manningham in free agency.

I'm hearing Moss will be signed by March 13. I have yet to hear by whom though.

Where did I say I like Flacco? I don't base my opinions on rather I like someone or not. Do I agree that the Ravens should at least try to get Manning? Yes I do. Now do I think they will, no not at all. Which I was just been stating why they would not be going after Manning. The one thing about Flacco is that since they go him, they have consistently had chances of making and winning the Super Bowl. Before they got him they were struggling at being a team like that, and a reason why Brian Billick ended up losing his job. He was not able to find a QB to go with the defense. While I agree Flacco is not elite, he has made them a consistent top team since he has been there. Which is why he is not going to go anywhere.
