Dang...that really cracked your tile? I'd half expect the ice mold and the ice ball to explode into pieces instead.

 

Sorry I wasn't clear, the tile survived unscathed the mold was in numerous pieces and shards. On the first batch of ice balls no less. Didn't get to use a single one.

My wife and I are both Ambassadors. I joined 3 years ago and she joined this year after I got the bottle sweater that she took for her own bottle. I have not looked at my paper work in a couple of yearsand can't recall how long I have to wait for my barrel. How long approx. do they have to age? Im thinking like 7 years, I have a good long wait to go but seeing Cols bottle is ready I have to admit I bacame inspired. I think my favorite gift was the ice ball molds, we still use them alot

It's supposed to be between 6 1/2 and 7 1/2 years.

Love the Christmas gifts! I wrapped my brother's Christmas present in the Maker's wrapping paper. He didn't care too much for it though, he works at Buffalo Trace.

Well I'm 100% planning on going....even if it means heading down that way by myself. I'm honestly a little disappointed that it's taken this long to finally get me down to the Maker's distillery.

 

So have you just been on the distillery tour, or have you done any of the Ambassadors' events (Thoroughbreds & Redheads Weekend, The Maker's Mark Cocktail Party, etc)?

Being a spouse of a Maker's Mark employee, I've been spoiled. They've taken us on trips, they've taken us to dinners, they've done nothing but treat both of us with class and respect.

My favorite thing that we get to do is Maker's Mark Mile day/night at Keeneland. We get to go to the Keeneland Room on the top floor of Keeneland and enjoy great food (and drinks obviously) and a day at the races. After that, it's dinner (and more drinks) somewhere in Lexington. Last year it was Dudley's.

Things have changed a little at MM with the retirement on Bill Samuels IV, but son Rob is very enthusiastic about the company and will do a fine job.

Words of advice regarding the ice molds. Don't drop it on a porcelain tile floor.

 

I personally thought the ice molds were a little weird...I didn't understand the point in an enormous ball of ice like that. This video actually explains that a little.

 

Did anybody get any of the bottles they came out with with blue and white on them for the UK title that was not officially through NCAA or university? They going for at least double on EBAY.

I didn't hear much about them and got lucky to get one, but most places I have asked say they can't get them due to the low volume they produced. Hang on to it, might be worth something or sell already and double your money!

Are you talking about the Tim Couch bottle? 20,000 bottles were made. I have one and actually I was just at a liquor store this weekend that had two of them on left on the shelves.
