January 27, 201214 yr Only heard of one of the beers on the list and that's because it has the name Sam Adams in front of it. I need to get out more.
January 27, 201214 yr I've had #3 Goose Island Rare Bourbon County Stout, #4 Founders KBS (Kentucky Breakfast Stout), #6 Bells Hopslam, #12 Bells Expedition Stout, #20 Stone Imperial Russian Stout, and #50 Goose Island Night Stalker. Of those, the Hopslam and the KBS were my favorites. I'm kind of surprised that so many of them are such acquired tastes. I'd certainly expect to see some of the particularly more "fancy" beers on the list, but I would also expect to see more that appeal to a broader palette.

For a while it was on tap at Sergio's in Louisville, but I haven't been there recently so I'm sure his kegs are gone. Grab some if you have the opportunity. Also, good lord does Mikkeller know how to make a beer. Try any of the ones listed. Finally... Hopslam is very bad for you... especially if you drink a 1/2 Yard of it at O'Sheas after class one afternoon...

I've have numerous Belgians and Trappists, and they're certainly good, but especially at the price you have to pay per bottle...I just can't say I'm that big of a fan. And holy crap...a half yard of Hopslam?? Let's see, half a yard is 18 inches, and at 10% ABV, that means you drank approximately 1.8 inches of pure alcohol. That sound about right?
January 27, 201214 yr I feel this is appropriate in this thread. Speaking of Three Floyds, I'd take this beer over any of the ones they have listed: Three Floyds Gumballhead Between Louisville Beer Store, Boombozz, and NuLu Fest I bet I consumed a pony keg of this stuff in the summer/fall.

That sound about right? Yeah, that was a really interesting day. My roommate at the time still likes to tell stories about that one. But I will say this... it was one of the happier, more... bubbly... types of intoxicated I've ever been. It was a happy inebriation rather than my usual quiet, contemplative kind. It's just a good, fun beer. Also, definitely the last time I've had anywhere NEAR that much to drink in a day.

January 28, 201214 yr I've had 24 of them. Hopslam is my personal favorite. All of the Mikkelers would be top 15. Alesmith Speedway Stout and Surly Darkness are ahead of much better beers. I'm surprised Left Hand and and New Holland are not represented.
