December 31, 201114 yr Sounds like me 6 years ago defending Charlie Weis. The thing with Weis is he started out great, and went to two straight BCS bowls correct? Ty Willingham won like 9 straight to start his career, and even Bob Davies made a BCS game. Those guys started off well, however none of them were good head coaches. Brian Kelly is a good head coach, and does run a whole different system than what Weis did. Kelly has not done great so far, but not terrible either. He has started to pay attention to getting defensive guys in which is good, and something Weis didn't do well. This year the defense did start making good strides. So even though we all would have loved to see Notre dame back to elite level quickly under him, it was very unreasonable. This year's team was killed by turnovers in the redzone, that has to be fixed. Next year is a huge year for him, and IMO will decide how his future at Notre Dame is going to go.
January 1, 201214 yr FSU receivers made some incredible catches at the end of the third/ beginning of the fourth. The pass rush died for 2 reasons. FSU kept more people in to block and ND's D line got no rest due to an inept offense that sustained 0 drives the whole game. This loss is solely on the offense. I was in South Bend for the BC game on 11/19 and I can tell you I was just baffled that the offense was that anemic. There was no reason that this team couldn't be better on offense. Is it that hard to get a decent QB there?

January 1, 201214 yr If a team only gives up 18 points they should win. Not to mention Kelly is an offensive coach, not a defensive coach. So why complain about Kelly and the defense when he doesn't call it, and why complain about it when they only gave up 18 points? If you want to complain about Kelly then complain about the offense, and all the turnovers it has had this year. That is what has killed them all season long, and once again today. For the record I think a lot of people on here are going to be eating their words when it comes to Kelly when all is said and done. Next year will tell the tale on how Kelly will do at Notre Dame, next year will tell if he is the right man for the job. I like him much better at Notre Dame than their last three coaches. Lets not forget their las three coaches started off GREAT, and how did they turn out? I think Kelly is going to do the opposite of them, and didn't start off great like them, but by the end of it will end up doing a great job for them and still end up being the Notre Dame coach far into the future. We will find out next year for sure though on it. Have you seen Notre Dame's schedule next year? Yikes.
