Featured Replies

The gym where Hoosiers was filmed is in Knightstown,IN. They played a high school game there last night.

You can tour the gym which is on my list to do here soon.

Milan played Crispus Attucks . Who played at Attucks? Big O.

One of the schools involved in that invitational was Brebeuf Jesuit Preperatory Academy located in Indianapolis. Alan Henderson, former IU and NBA player was a graduate of that school.

Where exactly is Knightstown?

I read an article some time back about how they often play games in that gym. Would love to see a game there!

Looks like Knightstown is located halfway between Indianapolis and Richmond, IN along I-70

Good article, a buddy of mine that I work with went to the games last night. He said it was nice. One of the things if you notice the size of the floor, the 10 second line was past mid-court. After passing over the 10 second line then you could go back to mid-court for the over & back line.

Maybe we could resurrect the old Beechwood gym and have a throwback tourney there.

Or St. Henry! ? Their old gym still used the double over and back line, too.

Holmes has a nice old gym in the "senior" building complete with track/balcony over the court and not so bright lighting................at least it was when I was there many moons ago. In an area off the gym there were pads on the floor for wrestling and an area where we used to use this homemade contraption built for for lifting weights with our legs. The weights were sewer lids...........have NO idea where those lids came from! :D

Pretty interesting article written about a month ago that provides updates about the cast of the basketball team in the Hoosiers movie. Much of the article centers around the suicide of one of the actors (Kent Poole, who played Merle Webb, and delivered movie's signature line, "Let's win this one for all the small schools who never had a chance to get here.") in 2003.

Great experience for the kids. I'm sure the NCAA will outlaw this type of event soon.
