Do I think it's possible that Ron Paul didn't read completely through every newsletter released under his name? Yes I believe it is POSSIBLE.

 

Is it likely? Probably not, hence my saying that I want to believe him. I didn't say I do believe him.

 

I also think it's possible for a person's views on a subject to change with time. I believe people who are racist can overcome that racism. Nothing I have heard from Ron Paul in the recent past communicates racism to me. Again, it is possible that he hides that fact. However, I personally believe that he is not racist. In the past? There's a chance that he was.

 

None of this really matters though, because regardless of what you or I believe, if the media gets a hold of this information then he is done. People are far too easily swayed by what the media says, whether it has substance or not.

This "news" does not affect my vote one bit. I am voting based off of what I know, and what I know is that Ron Paul has always been firm in his policies and they are policies that I agree with. What I know is that of all the candidates, Ron Paul is the least likely to flip flop on issues once in office.

 

I was simply stating that the media does have a huge effect on the outcomes of elections, simply because a majority of the population is too casual in their political interest. They don't put the time and effort into researching candidates to make an educated decision. They vote based off of what the media tells them to do.

I hadn't seen that before but it's very scary and if completely true it's a definite no vote from me.

 

Clyde, that's precisely the thing that makes me hesitant about Paul. I don't agree with him on every issue, but that's the thing that holds me back.

 

Well I definitely won't vote for Paul, but then again I wasn't a huge fan of Rand either. I believe the Federal Government does have a purpose on some level, the Paul's just want to shut every branch of it they can down.

I don't intentionally take anything out of text. Commonsense tells me you can go back and read, so I wouldn't make the attempt. I believe you(generally speaking) keep the news in perspective, just like everything else, and go by the article's intentions. Which were quite obvious, however, it could very likely be stating the truth.

This issue has been fairly well known for a while. It seems the main area of contention surrounds whether Paul wrote these things or whether they were just published in his newsletters. Either way, it bears further scrutiny if he were to win the nomination. If you are suggesting we believe it simply because it was printed in Mother Jones or their blog then I believe you are mistaken.

True that. I think about how many people still believe Obama is a Muslim or that he wasn't born in the US and just shake my head.

Watching this debate that's going on right now... Ron Paul seems the most reasonable person on the dais. I never would have guessed that would be the case if you'd have asked me four years ago. He holds a lot of opinions that I don't particularly agree with... but I'll be darned if I'm not captivated by the guy.

I'm seriously stunned. Ron Paul seemed like a guy on the fringe in 2008. This group he's sharing a stage with right now makes him look like the most even-keeled man in America.
