I actually find it pretty insulting that you are making assumptions that evangelicals and southern baptists will not vote for him just because he is a mormon. There is absolutely no evidence to back that up. Its not a good argument. You can make excuses as to why which state voted the way it did but when it comes down to it, Romney got votes in the heavy right-wing part of the country.

 

Until like 2 years ago it was listed as a cult on the Southern Baptist website, I'm looking right now to see it was moved to something called new false religions or something. I also know what I've heard for years about the mormon church from more southern baptist than I can even possibly begin to name here. Every preacher in town was up in arms when an LDS church opened in our community when I was about 15, I would say the uproar I saw is nothing unusual in a lot of the country. What exactly are we going off of here? Would you not consider them to be strong candidates when the top two prospects are beating Obama in numerous polls and key swing states?

He obviously isn't doing his job, you hit the nail on the head.

Still would take a lot, his numbers are low in the South. Gingrich can really rack up the delegates in several of the first primaries. Also with Paul's recent surge in Iowa you have to wonder how loyal his new found supporters are. Key to Iowa is loyal supporters that won't waiver, caucuses can lead to weird results. I still think South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida give Gingrich such an edge early he's going to be almost impossible to knock off especially if he comes in first or second in Iowa and New Hampshire.

 

I think you're completely overlooking Paul, I think he will surprise you in the Southern states.

As I consider Gingrich, I keep thinking ... if this guy with this background were a Democrat, Rush Limbaugh would be licking his chops. One other thought for consideration - will women vote for him? A woman I was speaking with recently made this point to me saying there is no way a woman will vote for him.

Maybe, I wouldn't disqualify someone for being Mormon, but I know many that would and will. A lot more goes in to my thought process, I would most likely not vote for Romney, but him being mormon is very far down on the things with him I disagree with.

There are now stories coming out about Ron Paul's newsletters he used to send out and their comments regarding blacks.

I'm looking at how he is polling in the states after Iowa. An Iowa win will set him up with so much media coverage and support that he will be almost impossible to take down. After N.H. it's Florida, South Carolina, and Georgia, 3 states Gingirch is currently polling at over 40% in.
