It's a minor league deal. Nice to have a guy that can play that many positions and has done it for a long time.

Given Dusty's history, Harris will be leading off, and playing LF on Opening Day.

Harris provides a lot of different options defensively and it's a low risk deal. If he even makes it to the big league level...

Ken Rosenthal source: Cordero to BlueJays, pending physical. One year, $4.5M. Will set up for Santos.

Wow. That's gotta hurt.

Obviously Cordero was not going to come back to Cincinnati to pitch in the 7th inning, but the Reds could have afforded that type of salary...

The bad news for Cordero is that he NEEDED a 2 year deal.

#Reds acquired from INF Wilson Valdez form Phillies LHP Jeremy Horst and signed Masset to a 2-year contract, avoiding arbitration.

He was under team control anyway. Might as well not have to deal with arbitration...

Meaning?

Meaning that if Cordero wants to play beyond 2012, he needed to sign a 2 year deal this year. He may be able to secure another 1 year deal after the season, but he would have been much better off (individually) getting a 2 year deal this offseason.

And he missed out on $3-4M this year by holding out for the two year deal.

I'm not sure what you mean. He would have likely gotten more than that if they went to arbitration.

Based on what? He was awful last year.

He was getting atleast 2.1 this year in arbitration. I'd say he may have won his case received 2.9. It would be even higher next year...
