Highlands 57 Newport Cathoilc 54 OT (Frosh)

Very entertaining game this morning at Highlands. Tied at 13 after one quarter, Newcath up 27-25 at half led by Isaiah Bostic (son of former UC "man of muscles" Curtis Bostic) with 16 pts. The score was Newcath 40-32 after 3 quarters and tied at 46 heading to OT. Sorry don't know any of the Highlands players, but the they played every kid on the bench and the coach did a great job making his substitutions. Highlands has some size and "beef" with this freshman class. Newcath on the other hand only played two off the bench, with Bostic playing every minute. Both teams did a lot of full court pressing and with all the contact that was taking place for a time you would have thought you were at a football game. Newcath was hurt once Clint Bartels fouled out, they missed his ball handling and defense. Gray, Hoover, and Neff played their butts off for the Breds. However, Highlands did a better job of hitting the boards and IMO this was the difference. Breds take it on the chin for the second time this season by 3 pts.

Just curious where the size and beef is on the HHS team? I would say that Neff and Hoover were the most solidly put together kids in the game today. Definitely was an entertaining and fun game to watch as both played their hearts out and shot extremely well from the free throw line.

It would of been nice if Hoge, Urlage and Ramey would of played frosh this year..Those three would of really made this team very good..:irked: Not saying that this team is not good just that much better imo..

Why is that funny??? If I had a guess it would be because of football but it's just a guess. Please explain the humor you find in my question...

Because its well known all across NKY that when an athlete quits a sport they excel at for Highlands it usually means they want to spend their entire year working on football. You are new to the board so I probably shouldn't have assumed. Welcome to BGP.

Highlands was led by Parker Harris with 13, Justin Weyer with 12, and Layne Harrett with 10. Jenson Feggins with 10+ rebounds.

Bostic and Gray must have each had 20 a piece for the Breds.

The free throw shooting in this game was outstanding. HHS shot 86% (18-21) and the Breds had to be close to that. I don't remember Gray missing any.

Way to go Baby Birds....Nice to see Parker Harris contributing along with the usual suspects.

With the absence of those three, were 8th graders Weyer, Daughtery, and Hergott their replacements or was that planned all along?

No idea?

I am pretty sure the 8th graders were ask to move up after the roster size shrunk to 10. If the original 12 would have remained there would have been no 8th graders playing up.

Really tough to play the style of basketball that HHS has chosen without numbers. Without the 8th graders tonight, the boys that played the most minutes were completely exhausted.

I didn't know Curtis Bostic was still in the area...those guys at UC could learn a lot from him.

He is the strength and conditioning coach at UC.
