5. Nate Neimi-Ryle- One of the best defensive coaches in the state also. His teams always shoot FT well and are very hard nosed. A good example of his coaching was the 2002 Regional Champs.

 

I will be interested to see how Nate does without T-bone on the bench next to him. I'll be shocked if that "defensive intensity" that carried the day in 2002 exists moving forward. We'll see, maybe I'll (and others) will be pleasantly surprised.

There are some good coahces up here in the 9th Region...really hard to say.

However, much of it comes down to the "Henry's and Joe's"....

What about Newport's Eric Russell? Did'nt he play Basketball? Has'nt he proved his self as one of the best in the 9th Region??

What does him playing basketball have to do with him coaching basketball? No, he hasn't proved himself as anything but the 2nd best coach in Newport.

2. Willie Schlarmann (Highlands)--Wait until he gets the players and they buy into his system. Will need the patience to learn to coexisit with football.

3. Mike Listerman (CovCath)--Don't begrudge him because he consistantly gets tons of talent. They play good "D", and he keeps the egos in line, which is sometimes no small feat.

I had to leave out all the Boone Co. coaches, along with Dixie's because how one of them can't seem to consistantly win big with the sheer size of those four schools, always amazes me!!

Agree with you h.s.sportsbest, I just wanted to see how everyone else felt about the wildcats coaching.

Hands down Willie Schlarman is the best, he could be coaching college right now, the Northern Ky. players are lucky to have a coach of his caliber around.

Just some notes on your choices.

I think Faust has done a very good job with the talent he gets, but I think he gets some pretty good talent and he doesn't have the football factor.

 

Schlarmann will have an adjustment to deal with football although Highlands is big enough that he doesn't have to deal with it that much at least not yet.

 

Listerman and Hensley maybe have harder jobs because they get so much talent. Sure that's a nice problem to have, but it takes a different type of coach to develop roles on teams with lots of talent.

Dixie has won consistently over the last six years. Scott Draud had a great record, although I still think he underacheived with the talent he had, and Coach Chevalier has just started his second season, and he is 28-9, but it is still to early in his career to accurately judge him.

Listerman has to be among the top in the Region!!!
