Interesting story. I had a relative from out of town.(not from Ft. Thomas) at one of the Birds home football games. Well into the game the cheerleaders broke int their C-A-K-E cheer. My relative asked me why in the world are the cheerleaders spelling CAKE? I tried to explain but he never really understood. I'm not 100% sure I get it and I graduated from CAKE!

But who are the true "river rats"??

Ludlow / Bellevue / Dayton = "River Rats"

HHS = "Cake-eaters"

CCHS = "Plowpushers"

Newport / Holmes = "Hoods"

NCC = "Studs"

Boone Cty = "Cutters"

Dixie Hts. = "Pixies"

were all names used/heard from the 70's.

It goes back to when "the Hill" was all boys..it was referred to as "Stud Hill"...as well as the popular, but politically incorrect, version.
