I think that's overly simplistic. The Broncos wouldn't be winning with Tebow under center if their defense couldn't keep the score low, that much I'll grant. But, it's the same defense that led them to a 1-4 start with Orton - a middling pro-form quarterback - under center. Tebow can sustain drives, puts up enough points, and his teammates are admittedly fired up with him in the game, and its gotten results. I think people need to come back to earth a little bit on the Tebow debate, which I think is the point of the article Bluto linked.

That has nothing to do with how much time they are on the field, number of turnovers? Even intangibles like those players who say they are more fired up or always feel like they are in the game?

In the NFL that would be a 15 yard penalty today. It was a great hit !

Sustain drives? They do nothing the first three quarters usually. As for the defense earlier in the year Von Miller was still adjusting to the NFL and Champ Bailey was hurt. I believe I heard they were giving up 26 points a game during that time. Since Tebow has been the starter the defense has given up less than 15 points in 4 of his 5 wins. So no it is not the same defense, it has been a much better defense since Tebow took over. If anything when Orton was QB it put even less pressure on the defense, because with Tebow they know if they give up 20 points they probably will lose.

Thats what I am trying to say this defense is the reason why they have won like they have since Tebow became the starter. The defense has given up 15 or less points in 4 of the 5 wins under him. That is shut down defense right there, if the defense had given up at least 20 points in those 4 wins instead which is still really good defense. Then they would have lost all 4 of those games, and people would be saying how bad Tebow is. I give him credit because he has made the plays at the end of the games. However if the defense would have given up just 20 points in those games, then they would have lost. Then he would be 1 and 5 this year as the starter, then are we going to still be saying he is a winner? Even if he puts up the same numbers? No because those number are HORRIBLE! He has to consistently win for me to ever call him a winner at the NFL level.

Broncos averaged 2.4 turnovers a game with Orton under center and have averaged 0.8 with Tebow under center. Their defense allowed a median of 23 points during Orton's tenure this season and have allowed a median of 14 points with Tebow. I don't think those numbers are unrelated.

 

They've given up a little more than touchdown less a game with Tebow, but have had to contend with around two less turnovers a game and around half a quarter less time on the field.

How many games has he started? How many turnovers has he had? Its a team sport and a team game. Name me some great/good QBs who have had his starts and how well they did and were winners? Tom Brady/Big Ben/Dan Marino. Thats about it. How about Johnny U/Joe Namath/Len Dawson/Joe Montana/How many SBs has Peyton won? Brett? I can keep going. Terry Bradshaw, Bart Starr, Ken Stabler/. It takes Time to develop. And those bashing Tim are not being fair.
