I think UK would be better off to find a young up and comer from a sub-division team or the coordinator ranks. Just don’t see the likes of Meyer, Saban, or other big name coach taking the job.

At this point, even those guys don't settle for Kentucky-level jobs. Muschamp went to Florida. Kiffin went to the NFL, for crying out loud.

Why would the coaches at Boise State, TCU and Clemson leave those places for Kentucky?

Plus it's easier to win at those schools then UK.

Fair enough, I dont think Leach would win titles at UK but he could keep them at te Rich Brooks level.

Something to remember also is that ESPN doesn't have a multi-million dollar TV deal with the Pac-12, unlike the SEC. I doubt Leach could get a job in the SEC or Big 10 until he drops his lawsuit against the SEC

Both valid points. This is where I get frustrated with the UK administration. I think the UK job could be a great one if sold properly. I don't feel like the administration cares enough to sell it properly. IMO, it is a low risk high reward job. If you lose you were supposed to lose. If you win 6-8 games and go to ANY bowl game you are the saint of UK football. If you win 9-12 games then you have reached greatest coach in UK football history status. With the money and resources that UK has at it's disposal they could build a quality winning football program with a great coach. If they would just try instead of settling.

It will take mire than selling it to a coach they need to spend more and Lentucky as a state needs to produce more d1 talent for UK to be a great football program.

Don't you get it 6 to 7 wins a year is what people want and they would be happy for it. I mean I got killed on here when UK hired Joker for saying UK missed out on a chance to take step forward as a program. I talked about how the UK program was in a good position and had a chance to take another step forward if they hired the right coach. When Brooks retired UK could have been a spot that would have been attractive to some and could have got a up and coming head coach from a small conference, or a top assistant looking for his head coaching chance. Yet UK messed up by giving it to Joker, and not at least looking and interviewing.

 

People said I was wrong for thinking that, and UK will never be able to really take another step forward and seemed content to be nothing more than an average program at best. This all came from fellow UK fans on here saying that. So that shows why people would want Leach, it's because they would be happy with 6 to 7 wins a year. They don't believe UK can every at least get to the point where UK every now and then maybe could compete for an SEC East title.

I understand how the lawsuit against ESPN could prevent Leach from getting a few jobs. But let's face UK football is a joke. I mean they rushed the field as a 5-7 team beating another terrible team they couldn't hold a candle to for over 20 years. I would say about 95% of football coaching jobs are better than UK. I would say Penn St., The U, and maybe 1 or 2 more would be worse than UK at the moment.

 

Leach would have done a much better job at UK that Joker could even think about. Leach put together a pretty darn good program at Texas Tech, where it is hard to recruit. Many of the 5 and 4 stars want to go to Texas, Texas A&M, or Oklahoma if they are going to the Big 12. I agree his players, especially QB's don't go over well in the NFL, however, that is not is primary job.
