The open field call against LexCath was actually a block below the waist and signaled as such on the field on the field but the announcer gave the wrong call over the loudspeaker. I do not recall the other call.

How about picks of all the flags thrown on Birds? There is no reason to split hairs here. If anyone can actually say that LEX CATH didn't have the penalties favoring them, they're wrong. Penalty yards made up the majority of their yardage on their last scoring drive! That is a fact. Congrats to Lex Cath on a terrific season, you are a class act and have a great facility with the exception of the bathroom lines and concession lines.

Just wanted to take a moment and give a shout out to LC #64 Melendez 6'1" 285 pound man child playing nose tonight. This kid had a motor that would not stop and a heart to match. Had a set of wheels that could rival HHS #42 Bruns and gave the HHS "O" Line fits, especially the first quarter before HHS could figure out a blocking scheme. It was an honor to shake this man's hand after the game and I wish him well at the next level. Thank God he is graduating. Really enjoy watching football excellence and a 285 pound lineman running like a DB. Now on to STATE!!!

Anyone with access to the game film, watch #45 on the opening KO return. He is the player they fake the reverse to going left when #4 goes right. He doesn't give up and continues a dead sprint up the home sideline and peels back across the field to throw a huge, de-cleating block at about the 20 yd line. Happened right in front of us. Was happy to see the LexCath player get up after that contact without any serious injury.

 

All the little things add up. Dale just expects every player to be "perfect" on every play. Doesn't always get it (as evidenced by some silly penalties and plays on both sides of the ball), but certainly expects it.

Wow Bush was a outstanding route runner at receiver. A quick question though....How many times did Bush(Catholic) get that Defensive Pass Interference call on the outside throughout the year. I know one time Highlands got called for it and the other time the Ref looked at the receiver and shook his head. The route they run starts about 4-5 from the sideline. He runs a quick out and I mean out of bounds. He then turns it up field forcing himself back against the defender to regain field of play. I do understand that the defender has to give the WR a chance to regain the field but this was a route that IMO was designed to get the P.I. The defender not knowing where he is during the play doesn't want to give ground is then called for the P.I. Was it just me or was this something Catholic went to when they needed a quick 15. Smart play though!

I know what I saw and a receiver just doesn't run his route out of bounds because he thinks that is the right route to take. Maybe it's not designed that way but Bush was taking advantage of the situation like it was his job. I don't blame him though!!!! It's not P.I. and the Ref missed the 1st call like it wasn't his job....That is true!!!
