This is a two horse race IMO - Nussbaum vs Talkers. If we are just looking at kickoffs, it isn't close - Nussbaum has been incredible all year. I guarantee you he is 10 touchbacks or more ahead of the second place guy, who I would guess is Talkers. It isn't just that Nussbaum gets touchbacks, the air he gets on the kicks is truly NCAA D1 level. I would be surprised if there have been more than 5 returns against Beechwood all year that got outside the 20.

 

Talkers is very good and in any other year he would be the winner. Where I believe he has an edge on Nussbaum is field goals. Nussbaum has not made many field goals this year. Nussbaum has attempted several long ones - 45 yards plus. Plenty of distance but he has not been able to get them through the uprights. He tried a 53 yarder one game and was just wide right on it. The kid has a D1 leg, no doubt about that.

Good field goal stats for Burns but I go with Nussbaum. Just too big of a leg to not get the award. There have been a lot of his kickoffs that went beyond the end line of the end zone in the air with hang time. The only kicker I can recall with as big a leg is Popham from CCH.

POY - You have to go with Towles.

Back - As good as Gray is and as much as I like him, Vocke gets the nod.

WR - Sheehan, but a player I really like here is Yates from Ludlow.

Off. Lineman - There are a LOT of great linemen this year. It is going to be difficult selecting an entire line, let alone pick one. Of the guys I have seen, Way of CCH, Martin and Rust at NCC, Eyckmans of Beechwood all deserve recognition. There are quite a few more that you could mention as well. It is a banner year for linemen in N. Ky. IMO.
