November 16, 201114 yr Lets not forget that Cal had to throw a tantrum to get them to look at the monitor on the shot clock issue earlier. That was also a pretty obvious blown call. The refs looked almost as bad as the Cats. That's more on the shot clock operator. I've never been a basketball ref, but I have operated a shot clock for college basketball. It's not very hard to do.
November 16, 201114 yr So refs in college have eyes that can look in two directions at the same time? Then how do they ever see someone go out of bounds?
November 16, 201114 yr Plus there are 3 refs all of them are not watching the players upper bodies. If they are then they are stupid. No offense, Newman, but you are not aware of how officials work and what they do. Each has an area that they watch. If all 3 watched the ball then they'd miss every other call. Officials miss calls. They've missed them in this game. They'll miss them in every game.
November 16, 201114 yr The hand on the line but not called is EASILY a bigger miss IMO than the foot OOB. I wasn't watching the play you reference on the post-up but I will say that's not the call for the baseline official. He's watching the bodies and looking for fouls. The outside official has to get that . However, remember that sometimes officials get blocked out so they miss it. The guy was so far out of bounds, the ref should have been able to tell by his body position. It was BAD.
November 16, 201114 yr Then how do they ever see someone go out of bounds? It depends on what's happening.

November 16, 201114 yr So who's job is it to watch the baseline? Nobody? The same guy who is looking at the chest of two 6'8 guys. The only way the trail official will blow a whistle is if he's 100% sure he saw the kid step OOB.
November 16, 201114 yr The same guy who is looking at the chest of two 6'8 guys. The only way the trail official will blow a whistle is if he's 100% sure he saw the kid step OOB. Again, one of the three officials should have seen him step out of bounds. He was TWO feet over the line. I understand they miss calls, but that shouldn't have been one of them.

I understand they miss calls, but that shouldn't have been one of them. DM, the other two officials are not watching the baseline. They have their own area of responsibility.
November 16, 201114 yr DM, the other two officials are not watching the baseline. They have their own area of responsibility. Clyde... the guy was half way out of the building. Quit being a ref homer and admit that was a terribly blown call.
