Scott or Simon Kenton? School advice needed please!

The wife and I are new to the Independence area and our oldest will be starting kindergarten next year. Some kids in our subdivision attend whitestower and I understand that leads you to SK, some attend Taylor Mill and that leads to Scott. Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions? And NO sports are not the factor that will help us pick. Thanks.

You'll find strong teachers at both schools.

Overall, I'd go with Scott from an academic standpoint without knowing your child.

SK all the way.

I have been told more good things about Scott by others as well. Its such a big decision and just want to make the best one for our kids future.

Good for you and your wife, looking out for your child education.....:notworthy:

If you don't mind, might I suggest you contact the Kenton County Board of Education and ask them for information about both High Schools, such as ACT scores, what AP classes both school offer, graduation rates of both schools, precentages of students after graduation attending college and truancy and or trouble/problems reported at both schools to the police!

Good luck and honestly with parents like you two, your child will be fine at either school, as you both seem to have what it takes, caring about your child education!

Well Thanks for the kind words. We have seen all test scores online from grade school, Jr High, and HS. And that gave a few more bonus points to Scott route (but the scores werent so one sided it was automatic to pick Scott). Its such a big decision, and just want the best for our kids and their future, to be honest kind of makes me stress out.

If your oldest is going to start kindergarten, you have quite a while still. Stress is the last thing you need to do. You have plenty of time and as time goes by, it will become more clear. As you get to know people, build relationships and become a part of the community, you'll figure it out. Enjoy your children and the elementary years, they grow up fast. Just dont stress. Pick the elementary that seems best and give time to the future to figure itself out. As your children are growing, you will start to learn what they really like and passionate about. You will see their strengths and weakness and you will see their needs. Once you see this, then you might start to lean toward one school that is stronger in that area and has more to offer. Besides if you make a decision now based on today's information, all that could change in 8 years.

Good luck in your decision. Bottom line is that you get what you put into it, I know plenty of really successful grads from both schools. With that being said, I could never send my child to Scott.:D

This makes the most sense.

Worry about the elementary school, if you have a choice between the two you mentioned. That's where your kid is right now developmentally, so that's where your energy (stress) needs to be. Find out what you can about those schools, no need to put the cart before the horse.

I'll bet the high school decision takes care of itself in the next nine years.

I had friends who lived in Taylor Mill years ago. They visited the schools which made their decision easier.

We are looking at the grade schools first, but they lead you towards a jr high then to a HS. The kids for from this grade school to that jr high to this HS for the most part. Would be nice to find the right direction so that they grow up with same kids and friends and not have to be the new kid come jr high then HS. HC is an option, my wife and I went to catholic schools.............
