IMO, that doesn't spell improvement if you finish the year 4-8 and lose in the same round of the playoffs.

New coaching staff, new philosophy, graduated a bunch of Seniors. They are playing a ton of sophmores and while they were pretty good last year in the past when losing that many seniors Campbell county would have been staring a 0-10 season in the face. Instead they are district champions and have won a playoff game. They haven't lost yet and I don't think they do this week either. There most certainly has been improvement but still work to be done.

Camels in a close one 16-13.

I like the direction the CC program is heading but think this is the end of the road for this year.

I believe that the people of Campbell County will happily take winning the district regardless of records considering how long it's been since the last time they did.

I think you are correct somewhat. Campbell County does not like change. The only program that has been truly successful over the years is wrestling and people still COMPLAIN about how the coach runs the program. For the most part people are never satisfied. I believe in what Coach Lickert is doing at Campbell County and when people (parents/fans) realize he is trying to build the program I hope they support him!

Improvement is a tough thing to measure. If you use wins and loses, it simplifies it. If you use all contributing factors to that win, loss record. It becomes a very different, and difficult equation. Lose 18 starters from last year, completely new coaching staff, completely new offense, completely new defense, and completely new attitude. I'm routing for 4 more wins for the Camels. I am however realistic, I'll be very, very happy with 2 more.

I believe the girl's basketball program was also consistently strong under Coach Craven's 13 years at the helm. Good luck to the Camels. The game this Friday should be a good one.

Forgot about girl's basketball, and you are correct, they were successful under Coach Cravens.

I'll take the Campbell County Copperheads (it's a grassroots effort to get their mascot changed) by 7. 22-15.

What do copperheads have to do with Campbell County? Personally, I like the name we had for them back in the 80's. Good luck, Plow Pushers!
