RoundBaller Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 Should be a barn burner at Dixie Wednesday night. The seniors have played some great games against each other over the years. Holy Cross slipped ahead of Dixie in the NKY Coaches' poll today. Holy Cross has played some outstanding games early this season. Dixie hasn't put it all together yet, but they sure seem due to hit on all cylinders. This might be the first game where Dixie doesn't have to defend against 6'5" and above post players, so they may get to be more aggressive on the wings on D... which is probably a good thing against Steenkin and the Indians' shooters. I give Dixie the home court edge 72-69.

With Dixie beating NCC, and HC beating Brossart this looks to be a game where one of these two teams can start seperating itself from other 9th region teams and start catching CCH and Holmes. A key to this game is if Jimmy Ryan gets into the game. Last couple of games his scoring hasn't been there, for HC to win their going to need some big shots from Jimmy. I'm sure he will be up for the task. Where is the game being played at, I'll probably make this game.
RoundBaller Posted December 20, 2005 Author Posted December 20, 2005 Where is the game being played at, I'll probably make this game. It's in Dixie's remodeled gym. It's a great place to watch a game now. Good lighting, great sound system, new floor, new lobby, good food. :thumb:
SKNEERS Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 I am going to have to go with Dixie in this one but not by alot, it can go either way.
Tiger1 Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 Dixie-71 Holy Cross-61 Lawson will have a huge game.
RoundBaller Posted December 20, 2005 Author Posted December 20, 2005 Lawson will have a huge game. Keener is also due... this will be a good game for Dixie's two returning starters from last year to have their coming out party. Dixie has had to rely upon a few different hot hands each game thus far. They will become much more competitive when all hands are contributing consistently.
porter22 Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 Dixie-71 Holy Cross-61 Lawson will have a huge game. No chance Dixie scores 70+ in this game. I dont think it will get out of the 50's to be honest with the way HC has been playin, but you never know with the perimeter players on both of these teams.
EQUUS GREVYI Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 Both teams rely primarily on the perimeter jumper. That would tend to give Dixie the edge by playing at home. HC however, does have some interior presence and Dixie has none at all. Evidence Kiernan scoring 31 vs Dixie less than 2 weeks removed from football and knee injury. Tempo dictates winner here. Holy Cross wins a slower paced, half court game and Dixie wins a shoot-out.

Evidence Kiernan scoring 31 vs Dixie less than 2 weeks removed from football and knee injury. . HC has no one that has the inside game of Z Kiernan. Their only inside scoring threat is Scruggs. He's about 6'1 and very strong but I don't see him putting up a lot of points. He's more of a rebounder and defender.
EQUUS GREVYI Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 The Steenken kid has plenty of inside game to score consistently in the paint vs. Dixie. Certainly won't be 31 points but I would not be surprised if HC didn't look inside a little more in this game.
Bird Man Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 I'm gonna pick Holy Cross in a close game here. They have beaten two really good teams in Lexington Catholic and Bishop Brossart. Don't count out the Colonels though! They play very hard for an undersized team. The final score will probably low scoring in the Indians' advantage. Good luck to both teams.
NEERFAN Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 Low scoring close game. What type of size on the HC side? I know it sounds obvious but it depends on how well Dixie shoots the trey. I wouldn't be suprised if they won by 10 or if they lost by 10 but I think it will be somewhere in the middle.
colfan80 Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 There are not any glaring matchup problems for the Colonels in this game, so I will take Dixie at home, 67-57. Dixie should be able to get the ball inside more instead of relying on three pointers.
cch5432 Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 Both teams perimeter shooting will cancel each other out whether its great or abysmal, but HC has the advantage inside. This game will either be in the 70's or the 50's but HC wins by 8.

He's a wing player and loves the outside J. He does not use his upper body strength enough. Somewhere along the line, he fell in love with his outside shot(which is pretty solid) and quit going inside.
