Holy Cross vs Dixie predictions

Featured Replies

HC has no one that has the inside game of Z Kiernan. Their only inside scoring threat is Scruggs. He's about 6'1 and very strong but I don't see him putting up a lot of points. He's more of a rebounder and defender.

6'6 Junior Will Eifert has improved alot this season. He has lost weight and when he comes in off the bench has given HC instant interior scoring.

The Steenken kid has plenty of inside game to score consistently in the paint vs. Dixie. Certainly won't be 31 points but I would not be surprised if HC didn't look inside a little more in this game.

:thumb: This is true also, Steeken scored a majority of his 17pts against Finneytown in the post.

There are not any glaring matchup problems for the Colonels in this game, so I will take Dixie at home, 67-57. Dixie should be able to get the ball inside more instead of relying on three pointers.

But are there any real glaring matchup problmes for HC?

Then he had them in the first half. I saw the 2nd half and I only saw him score one or two baskets and they were from the outside.

I've been told that he will score more from the inside than he has in the past. It would be a wise move on his part.

No offense to the fine young man from HC, but the Eifort boy has a ways to go to catch Kiernan. He may get there but he's not there yet. I assume he's still developing both in his talents and in his body. 6'6 is something you can work with. Hopefully, someone is teaching the kid the low post game.

I'm not comparing him to Kiernan. I coached Will in grade school and he was always catching up with his size. This year was the first time in a long time he seems comfortable with his size, and he lost weight. He is a totatlly different player. He doesn't just score because he is bigger than his oppenent now. He has good post moves and is a big time defensive threat.

Is he a top player in the region right now. Not by any means. But is he a pleasent surprise, and will he be a factor for opposing teams. Yes he will be. I haven't seen Dixie play, I don't know their size this year. But if you don't have a good Will's size he is pretty good this year on using his size advantage when he is in.

Also CSHS I think Coach Goetz makes a legit effort early in the game this season on getting points in the paint with Steeken.

Holy Cross will win this one and by more then some would think, IMO.

Dixie's 3 point shooting could be an equalizer, but I tend to agree with Zig.

I'll take the Latonia Catholics in this one.......... :thumb:
