Longest regular season district winning streaks

Featured Replies

There might be several 1A schools on that list. I believe Frankfort, Hazard, Louisville Holy Cross and Pikeville all have streaks going. I doubt Mayfield is there because that Crittenden County loss was in 2008.

Here are some other possibilities not mentioned yet that come to mind ... John Hardin, Christian County, Breathitt County, Louisville Central ... those are all schools that have been very good for a number of years.

Christian County is at 16 and active

Central is at 14 and active

Johnson Central saw their 15-game streak snapped Friday

What About John Hardin? That was one of those I listed that I really thought would be at 19 or more. And I am surprised Central is only at 14.

John Hardin is at 12. Lost one in 2008

Anything prior to 2006 was four classes with larger districts

Does this include playoff games in the two years the district championship was decided in the first 2 rounds of the playoffs?

Also did any of these teams lose a playoff game in any year to one of their district foes in the 2nd or 3rd round of the playoffs?

Bell's is pretty high now Corbin's was in the high 40's until they lost to Bell a few weeks ago.

Corbins was 47 until Bell beat them. It dated back to 2000 I think.

No. Regular season only. Add playoff games against district opponents and Trinity's streak is 51.

Lost to Warren Central in '09 & '10.
I was thinking they did at least one year recently but wasn't 100%.

The '09 loss did end a 36 game district winning streak including a 32 game regular season streak, so it was a pretty good guess. They had previously not lost to a district opponent since 2002. Still haven't lost to one besides Warren Central since then and I don't see that changing any time soon. Two teams in their current district have never beaten them, and Barren County hasn't done it since 1985 (and hasn't been closer than 48 points since joining their district in 2007).

A guess from me would be Belfry and Mayfield.

Belfry lost to Sheldon Clark last season.

Mayfield lost to Fulton City in 2007.

Belfry lost to Sheldon Clark last season.

This is correct. Belfry was a pretty good guess though.

Over the past 10 years, they are 47-2 in district play in regular season. Sheldon Clark beat them in 2006 and 2010.

Over that same time, Belfry is 8-1 against district teams in the playoffs. That loss was also to Sheldon Clark in 2009.

One of my first thoughts was Belfry because they never lose to Pike County schools, but then Sheldon Clark came to mind. It seems like the Cardinals have been a thorn in the Pirates side over the last few years.
