I think the only people turning on Montgomery is the fans that have no clue on what it takes to run a program! As far as Kevin Sipple goes I say have him lose three of his best players and play Daytons scheduele and then talk to me. As far as changes to the school with the state coming in I believe its mandatory when you do not improve on state test scores!

 

From what the article that I read stated, the scores had improved in some areas, but the improvement was very little and didn't exceed what the expectations of the state were. The article also stated that the school was likely going to get a state grant based on the average income of families in Dayton that have kids going to the school, which will allow for more availability of services in the school than has been there.

That's it, jsut throw more money at the proplem, that will fix it. First you have to have parents that actually care and are involved, second is the teaching staff that cares about the students and are just not there to collect a paycheck, & finally you need a community that will not put up with the nonsense that is taking place in the school system. I'm not saying that all parents, teacher, & members of the community don't care, but to have ACT scores that low something is amiss. But IMO it all starts with PARENTS or lack thereof.

As far as parenting issues are concerned, I am sure that it does factor in to the equation somewhere, but I don't know if I would point the finger there first. I remember seeing posts and posting a comment or so about this last year. I do agree with you that teachers should be there because they really want to be, as well as your points about administration and the community. The overall community support of this town is nowhere near what it used to be and if the administration was at least halfway solid, they wouldn't have near the problems that they had over the past few years too.

 

I know of many people that were part of Dayton that taught, were in administration, and in other areas that left to pursue positions in other schools, which did not have the things going on that currently are. There are countless people that I know from when I was a student here and some time after that moved away. Of friends, their families, and others that I knew living in Dayton, there were a lot of them and now there may be ten who are still there. The population has decreased in Dayton significantly; than figure in the issues that have taken place in the school, the community support, the economy over the past few years, and more, it all contributes as stressors of the situation.

 

I also agree with you that money shouldn't be instantly given out, but if a solid plan is in place to act on, I wouldn't have a problem with it.

They are doing the same thing at Newport. These are inner city areas and not Ft Thomas so its not an equal playing field and the kids shouldn't suffer because they don't get the same parental support that other communities get.

Maybe that grant money can buy the district a few bags of sakrete concrete to fix that stadium up a little bit and at least make it presentable.

I have not heard that much, but did hear that there are plans to to fix some of the problems before the next season, especially on the hillside next to the first wall where the steps and stands are.

Is it true there is a sewer lid or something like that on the field? Also the field itself is in dyer need of repair, I've never seen so many dead patch on field ever. Maybe some of that Grant money could be used for some Gardening 101 classes.
