NCC lost to Beechwood earlier in the year..

Remember, Dixie head coaches were at the game as well. The boys were told at the end of the Ryle game that the season was over. If the blame for going back on their word was on dixie then it came from Spritzky or from Frosh coach during game. THE PLAYERS DIDN'T DECIDE THIS. the next day the offer to play up was made for jv or varsity.

 

I'm not getting something here. If you have a shot at being the top dog, no matter what is is, why not take it? What the heck is going on at Dixie? You don't reward your guys for a good season? No wonder once these boys hit the varsity level mediocrity sets in. COME ON!

Well, the Highlands PA announcer proclaimed this tonite after Highlands defeated CovCath tonite, so if he said it then I guess Highlands is the Big School Frosh Champs. Congtrats to both Beechwood and Highlands for great seasons.

Beechwood beat all N. Ky. teams including two large school teams by two TD's or more. Beechwood does have a loss. It was to the 65 member freshman team from Moeller, whose only loss was to St. X.

Whew. You are going to tax the memory on this one. The scores are probably all on BGP if anyone wants to dig them up. The only two teams within two TD's were New Cath the first game (27-14) and Boone County (20-7), not including the Moeller loss, which was something like 42-14. I don't know the other scores but most of the others were more lopsided. I believe the teams they beat were Conner, Holmes, Holy Cross, maybe Scott? ... Cooper? ... I am not sure. There were no 1A schools. Newport and Lloyd did not have freshman teams so they didn't play them. Beechwood had to scramble some for games to fill their schedule because of Newport and Lloyd not having teams. Sorry I can't do better for you but that info is close.

That's two years in a row with no freshman team for Lloyd. I am hearing some talk that Lloyd is looking at doing what the other 1A schools are doing - no freshman team, no JV team, a combined freshman/sophomore team. That may happen with other small schools as well. In fact, I believe NCC was using a sophomore or two on this year's freshman team. Beechwood, being a one school high school in grades 7-12 has the luxury of playing 8th graders on their freshman team. If numbers continue to shrink for the small schools, I wouldn't be surprised to see some changes like the freshman/sophomore teams for Lloyd and Newport.
