There was a 5 way tie. Boone was all in when they were going to play Dixie. If Boone really wanted to prove they were the 6A freshman champions why not play Ryle. Ryle coaches were not present at this meeting as they were at the Freshman game supporting their freshman team defeat Dixie so they did not participate in the decision making but did offer to play Boone.

 

Boone did win the first time against Ryle in a very close game. Ryle improved a great deal throughout the season - I agree with Ryle Wagon on there would have been a diffferent result the second time around.

And they had already sewed up the Boone County Frosh championship :thumb: having beaten Ryle and Conner to go 2-0 (Cooper game cancelled) for best record in the county!

 

By the way, some Boone players felt they played poorly against Ryle first time around and would have beaten them more handily if they played again. Yeah I know, but it's as good as yourall's "assurances" Ryle would have won. At least Boone has a win to stake their claim on, a win that makes them COUNTY CHAMPS!

It's nothing to do about the championship for Freshmen, 6A, County, or Street level. It's about going out playing one more game, improvement for the next 3 years, plus a Rival team at that. IMO if Boone would of played Dixie, Dixie wins hands down.

Remember, Dixie head coaches were at the game as well. The boys were told at the end of the Ryle game that the season was over. If the blame for going back on their word was on dixie then it came from Spritzky or from Frosh coach during game. THE PLAYERS DIDN'T DECIDE THIS. the next day the offer to play up was made for jv or varsity.

You know what they say opinions are like, right?!?! The season ends with Boone haven beaten Ryle. That's a fact, no opinion involved.

Of course I would have liked to have seen the game played (would have driven the 3 1/2 hours to see it since I couldn't make the first one), but once it's determined it won't be played, and fans of one team insist on wanting to claim some sort faux victory, it's time to answer back.....all in fun of course!

So does this mean Boone County frosh only won 4 games on the field against big schools in the conference (i.e., they did not play both Dixie or Cooper) and actually only went 4-2 this season in actual games played in the conference? I understand that the Boone (and Dixie) parents really want the sons teams to be tied with the other freshman teams with 6-2 records (and I don't have a child in this group for any of the teams) but their logic is strained (at best) or mathematical fact fallacy (in reality) and their 4-2 or 5-2 (combined with refusing to pay the other team) records does not make them tied with the 3 teams that are 6-2 and actually beat 1 or 2 (50%) more teams on the field. I understand it is only freshman ball which should be primarily about player and team development (I agree with that completely) and not about championships (and related hoodies) but i do hope they fix this in the future and require teams to play each other to be part of the conference (elgible for the championship) or agree on a divisional system that suits them where teams at least play all the team in their division to determine eligibility for the championship.
