(really gets my goat when folks on here try to tell me how to speak) It's unacceptable because it is her right (and possibly only public school option) to attend a school that is free from religious expression. You do not have to like the Constitution but you certainly have to abide by it.

October 14, 201114 yr Imagine she goes to college and there is something she doesn't agree with, she gets married and her In-Laws do/have something in their lives she is against. She gets a job she reallhy loves but there is something in the break room she hates, or she is against homosexuals in the work place and she has to complain. Life isn't easy, but we have to adapt. Surely, you realize why the above is a terrible argument.

October 14, 201114 yr I really can't see the atheist point of view in this instance... Does a mural really have that much affect on the girl because of her lack of belief in God? If she is forced to pray to something she doesn't believe in, then I can see where there is a problem. However, why do atheists (not all, but some) tend to get their britches in a wad when others are praying? What is it about religion that offends those without it? This is a cry for attention. Nothing more, nothing less.

I would argue that the blanket statement is incorrect. If your argument is that certain art stays because it's a)art and b) acceptable then we get back to the "acceptable" part. Is "prayer" acceptable simply if it's disguised as art? If yes, then we are opening Pandora's Box.

However, the argument would be that public schools are not to promote any religion. The fact that one may or may not be offended is really immaterial. It's simply a matter of law that is to be debated.
