Agree or Disagree?

A little surprised to see Russell move ahead of Garrard this week. It appears that Garrard's win at Bourbon County wasn't as valuable as I presumed (or Russell's win at Mason County was more valuable). By all metrics Garrard's numbers seem better (better overall record, better opponents record, higher margin of victory). And I would argue that Bourbon County is a much better team than many believe.

But no big worries about it. Both teams are very close and its very possible they will meet up in the playoffs. Should be exciting. Good job on the rankings!:thumb:

It is very similar to 5A, although 5A has more "contenders" than does 3A.

They're pretty close in that regard. The other 4 classes, however, only have 1 or 2 contenders.

I still think Bell and Central are head and shoulders above everybody else, and you could make a case to throw Tilghman in there with those guys as well. Outside of that, I honestly think there are 15 schools or so that are very even.

I think you have a good point, although I'm not sure if there are 15 even schools - maybe 10. Central and Bell are the two best in my opinion, but Tilghman will have an advantage in getting to host either one of them in the playoffs. Breathitt and Belfry seem to be the best two teams on the eastern side, although I'm not sure either is a dominant team. And both of them would have to go on the road in the state semifinals, which could be a challenge. All in all, I believe it should be a fun playoff season in 3A.

Good point. That was a bad choice of words on my part. I guess I should have said that the next 15 schools, on a given night, would match up well vs one another, IMO.

They look good to me. I think there will be some very good matchups come the playoffs. And some will be early.

Bell, Belfry and PT are all #2, Central clear cut #1.

I think the top 5 are head and shoulders over the next 5.. I don't see alot of seperation in Bell and Central. Should be pretty even between those 2 and the next 3, just slightly behind the top 2. After those 5, I think there's a little bigger gap and about 10 pretty even teams..I think they look about right...

I agree with you. Most have said all season that Central and Bell were the top two and they are. I'm curious to how Bell would contain Central's speed. Bell has had tough match-ups with Boyle in recent years, but no one they have played has speed at every position like Central. So that will be an interesting game.

And after those two, it's definitely Tilghman, Belfry and Breathitt in some order. I would probably give Tilghman the edge in athleticism, Belfry the edge in strength, and Breathitt is a good mix of both.

After that, I believe there are a few schools that could make playoff noise like Fort Campbell, Edmonson, Monroe, Garrard, Russell, Corbin (maybe) and that's about it. But it would take a good deal for any of those schools get past the top five.
