Ryle 21 Highlands 14 (Frosh)

Featured Replies

Very nice freshman game. It was 14-14 at the half with some time-cosuming drives. Ryle did a good job of pounding the football and mixed in a some nice play action passes. The Birds connected on 2 long jump ball passes but most of their yardage was on the ground. Nice win for Ryle. The Raider D played much better in the second half than the first half. Ryle has 3 really good 8th grade players including 2 very good running backs. Congrats to the Raiders. Future looks bright in Union.

Highlands starting qb Beau Hoge gets hurt early in the 1st quarter and doesn't return..Rocco Pangallo comes in and does a nice job..Ryle just ran the ball down the Birds throat..Congrats Raiders..

With this victory and with CovCath beating Boone County 28-20 the Frosh big school standings become even tighter!

Has HHS been eliminated from the title game?

I saw Hoge walk off the field and leave the stadium so hopefully he will be OK. Looked like some type of injury to the midsection or ribs the way he was walking after the injury. He is a good player.

Really still a 3 team race to see who goes to the Championship game.

How many 2-loss teams are there now?

The kids from both teams played their hearts out. Rocco Pangallo coming in for an injured Beau Hoge and played an outstanding game. Josh Watson carried this team tonight. Shame Birds came up short. Great catch by Weyer across the middle early on. Birds just couldn't stop the pounding run offense of Ryle. But really, that's been the case all year. Because of D alignment. Now all we can do is hope the stars align right and phone calls are made and a schedule adjustment is properly fixed IMO.

1. D alignment? Are you saying wrong scheme?

2. What do you mean by a "schedule adjustment?" T loss?

The T loss has no bearings on the district standings. Schedule adjustment is for Boone?Dixie to play each other next week.

Gotcha.

What about the D alignment?

Doesn't Ryle also only have two losses? I thought I read in another thread that Ryle would also be in the hunt for the championship if they could win out.

Gotcha.

See Highlands/covcath varsity game. Same results it seems.

Gotcha.

What about the D alignment?

Highlands runs a 3 man front. That allows guards to get to linebackers pretty quickly. I'm not a D-Coordinator, and I have no intimate knowledge of what Highlands varsity/JV/Frosh run as in shading their D-Linemen. However, teams have a lot more success running directly at Highlands than they do running around it.
