October 11, 201115 yr That's OK, baby, with my gout I barely ever make steaks anymore. It's all about cookin' up some hog these days ... Do you walk around with a beaker filled with uric acid?
October 11, 201115 yr Do you walk around with a beaker filled with uric acid? If I drink too many days in a row, or drink plus eat steak and shellfish, it feels like it. I've gotten pretty good at managing what I can and can't get away with.
February 20, 201214 yr My brother and I are talking about going in together and getting one of these for our old man. What are the price ranges on them? How often can I find them at a reasonable on-sale price? Who carries them? And for those of you who have taken the plunge on them and bought one, what's been your experience?

It is EXTREMELY heavy so you really need to but the "nest", which basically puts it on wheels. By the time it was all said and done, I spent $1200.00. I don't think they go on sale and prices seemed the same wherever I looked. My husband loves it. He cooked great steaks on it and made delicious ribs, and pork butts. It is amazing how quickly it can get to very high temps or low temps with a change of the vent. I would say that it was a great gift for him.

Looks like my brother, whose household makes a hell of a lot more than mine, will be footing the largest part of this gift.

I don't know where you live, but I got mine at Fireside supplies on Burlington Pike in Florence. I checked around on the Internet before hand and saw the same price everywhere. Seriously, if you go, you will need major lifting help. I have two big strong grown son's who struggled getting it in the house.
