October 10, 201114 yr Obama raking in the Wall St. money. http://news.yahoo.com/obama-attacks-banks-while-raking-wall-street-dough-044804642.html
October 10, 201114 yr I'm in NYC today and saw the protests. Are you telling me those were all kids with college loans that they don't want to pay back? That's what they're protesting? Not sure what they are protesting. Not sure they know what they are protesting, but looks like the birth of the "Flea" Party movement to me.
October 11, 201114 yr Author C'mon Commando. That isn't a fair representation. If I wanted to I could conjure up some photos of the tea party being complete idiots and making the WSP seem like angels. Those Wall St. Protesters have more in common with conservatives and libertarians than most realize. What I find funny is the biggest thing these protesters are furious about is the bailouts. All the Democrats who voted for the bailouts are now praising the protesters. Comical, incompetent and typical politics. I almost want to say Democrats just need another voting block so they are trying to appeal to these protesters as an answer to the Tea Party....but Dems wouldn't to that.
October 11, 201114 yr I don't remember hundreds of tea party members being arrested for anything. And of course the Dems are embracing the WSP. Their main supporters are Soros organizations and ACORN..

October 11, 201114 yr Very interesting read Commando. The Dems are reaching out to the OWS movement and trying to lasso them in. Think the OWS movement is smart enough to figure out that the highest elected Dem in this land is sucking in so much money from those greedy Wall Street folks? Think the MSM will emphasize the hypocrisy of President Obama constantly making Wall Street out to be the boogeyman for the economic crash while at the same time accepting boat loads of political contributions from those folks on Wall Street? Think the American voter votes by emotion instead of rational thought and logic and it doesn't matter what the answer is to the prior two questions? We get what we deserve unfortunately.
October 11, 201114 yr No. http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/money_co/2011/02/tarp-bailout-banks-break-even-fifth-third-bancorp.html Govt expects to make profit off of Tarp money provided to banks and is at an about break even point. The picture is different concerning Tarp money provided to non-banks.

How much did the Federal Reserve, Federal Reserve of New York, and the FDIC spend on banks or guarantee for banks during the crisis?
October 11, 201114 yr Author I don't remember hundreds of tea party members being arrested for anything. And of course the Dems are embracing the WSP. Their main supporters are Soros organizations and ACORN.. All you have to do to see some idiots in the Tea Party is type in 'tea party racists' and below and behold you will have pictures of tea party people holding nasty signs. My point is you are going to have stupid people in every group. More so in the WSP but I think it is because of the radicals that go here and expect to get their point across by acting violent. I do think that these protesters are targeting the wrong people. They are mad at the corporate greed. They should be going after the politicians that accept money from them and bail them out. Protest DC, not Wall Street. The yahoo article was a nice read.
October 11, 201114 yr I have no dispute that TARP will eventually be repaid. How much did the Federal Reserve, Federal Reserve of New York, and the FDIC spend on banks or guarantee for banks during the crisis? Don't know the answer to that question. How much? While you are looking that up, look up how much it would have cost the fed govt directly and indirectly if the banking system had been allowed to fail. Bottom line: the Tarp money loaned to the banks has been repaid. With more banks still expected to repay, the fed govt will make a profit on the Tarp money loaned to banks. Setting aside the fact that the Tarp money saved the banking industry and thus saved the federal govt big money, the fed govt will actually make a profit on the Tarp loans. Anyone that wants to criticize the fed govt for lending the Tarp money to bail out the banks and save the banking industry isn't a very shrewd business person. If GM someday truly repays the Tarp money it received and the fed govt makes a profit from its investment, not only will 1000s of job been saved, it will likewise have been a good investment. I'm not as optimistic in GM's chances of doing it, but I'm hoping.
October 11, 201114 yr More than 100 Occupy Boston protesters were busted early Tuesday after they clashed with cops, authorities said. The arrests came after the demonstrators attempted to expand from Dewey Square, where a tent city has been growing for days, to the neighboring Rose Kennedy Greenway, a 1.5-mile stretch of parks and public spaces in downtown Boston. Officials want to keep the protesters out of the greenway, fearing they will ruin recently planted shrubs that cost the city $150,000, according to The Associated Press. The protesters - whose numbers officials say have grown to more than 1,000 - were warned before the arrests began, the Boston Globe said. No protesters or cops were injured during the arrests, but one officer was struck in the face, police said. All of those arrested were charged with trespassing. Link
October 11, 201114 yr Looks like the progressive New York political party Working Families has run an ad on Craigslist, apparently the ad promises a salary for joining the OccupyWallStreet protests. $350-$650 A Week Depending On Responsibility & Length Of Time On Staff
