Cats' Pause 11th Region Preview

Ryan Timmons gets not even a mention. You guys have got to be kidding me. I know he is football first, but his speed is unreal. Although he is not a great outside shooter, his speed, defense, and ability to get to the rim are pretty good.

Agreed. He is definitely one I left out. Ryan has the ability to change games on defense more than offense.

Of course, I am sure he isn't the only one. :-)

His defense turns into offense. He gets tons of layups. I saw him play against Scott County last season nad they didn't have anyone that could guard him in that game.

There are very few people who can guard him if you get in him ... He's too quick. And a team like Scott co, that's their style. Give him a couple of steps and you have a chance.

Totally agree with Timmons, the kid is a stud. Reminds me of kid from Christian County last year (maybe not all the skills...but fully capable). Would add another name to the conversation, David Greenwell of Woodford County. Oftentimes gets overshadowed with Jay Johnson of Woodford but he is one heck of a player, won the head to head against Garrett Hamilton of Franklin County in the district finals last season.

Told you my list forgot some kids. It is tough to remember them all, but I can't believe I forgot Greenwell. I saw him play many times last year and he does do the dirty work and is definitely the No. 2 option for Woodford County and has been key for the team for the last 2 years. It will interesting to see if he can step into lead role until Johnson comes back and lead Woodford against their upgraded schedule that was put together I'm sure to showcase Johnson.

This is just my opinion so feel free to pick it apart.

1. Madison Central

2. Henry Clay

3. Scott County

4. Lexington Christian

5. Franklin County

6. Woodford County

7. Lexington Catholic

8. Lafayette

9. Bryan Station

10. Dunbar

1. Tameron Manning

2. Taylor Barnette

3. Dominque Hawkins

4. Jackson Davis

5. Ryan Timmons

6. Jay Johnson

7. Trey Grundy

8. Jordan Green

9. Larry Morton

10. Jaylen Beckham

Now this is based on right now. Obviously if Jay Johnson was healthy he would be my top player and Woodford would be higher up on my list. Dont get me wrong Woodford has some good guard play and will survive fine until Johnson comes back, Greenwell can play and Stratcher looked a lot better this summer. Anyone who doesnt think Henry Clay is one of the top 3 teams in the region is crazy. That team is special and is going to be for the next couple of years. Also, you never know what is going to happen with Beckham and that could change his ranking and Bryan Station. Madison Central has all the tools to win the region this season, good coaching, good players, and they have played together now going on 3 years. As always there will be suprises and nobody can predict the future but I look for it to be a great season in the 11th.

This is a loaded Region for sure.

Good list there mooremiller. Let me point out some sleepers, maybe not top 10 but all could have big years, Eric Meyer, Logan Woodside, and Garrett Hamilton. All three of these guys can be dangerous for there opponents by putting up big numbers on a given night.

I agree all 3 of those players have the potential to have top 10 player type of games on any given night.

Just heard Quan Taylor has transferred to Jefferstown. If true then I wouldn't have Masison Central as the favorite.

Can anyone confirm or deny this?

There are a bunch of good players in the 11th and they are spread out among several teams, which will make for a fun season.

Quan Taylor is no longer in school at Madison Central. I've heard Jeffersontown is where is is going. That will hurt Central inside quite a bit.

Has this been confirmed? If true, how badlly does this hurt Madison Central?

I agree with you Purple Pride. I don't think the Cats Pause did their homework very well. Henry Clay is loaded!

Another transfer, Logan Woodside, that you didn't mention should boost Franklin County as well.

I will be very surprised if Franklin County isn't MUCH better than 9th in the region.
