October 10, 201114 yr Author What it sounds like is Pitt's President thought he/she could get a better deal. Can we agree on that? The deal he told the Big East to turn down was equal to the ACC ESPN deal. Money was roughly the same. What it sounds like is collusion. Can we agree on that???
October 10, 201114 yr I think it's the NCAA's fault for not instituting a football playoff ... the superconferences wouldn't exist if each league had access to an automatic bid to an NCAA tournament with a lucrative TV deal. This re-alignment stuff just doesn't bother me. The college football system was already broken to start with. The same old BCS system will be in place when the chips quit falling, so the change won't be that drastic. And, we'll get used to Nebraska in the Big 10 and A&M in the SEC. It will be easy to get used to that stuff. As for ESPN's actions and motivations, I don't know if it is true or not, but it is believable. I wouldn't be quick to dismiss it, and would be willing to bet there is some truth in it at the least.

At one time we had the NIT determining the national championship in bball.
