Rather be scared than unprepared, and I think that fear is the terrorist still winning to an extent. Personally I'm not scared but I am aware and prepared, I recognize that it's a real possibility that these people want to do something again. Perhaps it's sick/sad but I have an action plan in my mind as far as what I'd do and how I'd do it if something were to happen in my area or at my work.

I think everyone on here knows I won't vote for Obama but come on mountain ref, if that were happening his opponents would be all over it.

So by your post we are to think there are no terror threats? So we will never know which ones are real or "made up" just to keep us scared? Look, I am not a terrorist expert or hopeful my government can do much competent, but I would assume there would be increased chatter or activity around any significant dates - especially one where the terrorists delivered.

 

What would be the point of keeping us scared? I would want the person in charge that keeps danger out of our lives. Saying there is a heightened terror alert does not do that.

Really? You do know that when they raided Bin Laden's compound, they found out that he was hell bent on attacking America on the 10th anniversary of 9/11? You do realize we killed a martyr in the eyes of the radicals and they want revenge and here you are saying "Its the gov't...they're trying to control us by fear." Was that the case with the shoe bomber on a plane? Was that the case when someone tried to use a car bomb in time square? Was that the case when there were cases of anthrax in the US?

 

I'm naive? It would do you good for you do to some actual research. I believe in the bible it says "Quick to listen, slow to speak" it would be wise if you followed these words of wisdom.

 

Thank God nothing has happened yet.

My students asked me about this the other day. My response was to ask them, "What is the ultimate goal of a terrorist attack?". It is to put fear in the hearts of the victims. They have accomplished their goal, and when people panic around 9-11 because of possible terrorist threats I feel that the terrorist are getting wha they want.

 

That said, I did say that this was only my view and that obviously we could have another attack at any time.
