Had the Cohiba Red Dot out of the humidor special. The flavor profile was fairly unremarkable, which baaically means it was too mild.

But in all other ways it was near perfect. Smoked flawlessly, perfect draw, nice tight long ash, burn never varied by more than a 1/16 of an inch.

Which got me to wondering what everybody conciders important in a cigar.

I like a slow burner. A long tight ash that holds an inch and a half. Full flavor profile. Absolutely hate a flakey ash. I prefer a punch over a cutter and can't stand it when the cap breaks - don't like tobacco in my mouth. I know people who chew the end of their cigars up, which I don't get. Mine will be a little moist but undamaged.

So what about you guys? Any chewers, fast burners, cut or punch, short ash, ect

When you refer to punch I'm guessing that means to poke a whole instead of cutting? I bought a torch lighter that supposedly has a punch but I have yet to find it.

I prefer a nice long ash, and don't like the ends of mine to be wet. How long do your cigars last? I haven't gone much past one hour so my guess that it's a fast burn.

Those Nubs you've been smoking burn pretty slow.

I have a bullet cutter/punch I keep on my key chain. It cuts a 1/4" hole. Instead of a guiliteen cutter which cuts off the whole end.

The Nub "Connecticut" is a very good mild cigar. I had a Fuente "Hemingway" today and it was good. I went to the Beer Sellar on Tuesday and picked up their Best of Honduras bag. The Upmann "Sungrown" is very good. I advise anyone in NKY to stop by on Tuesday nights, it's a good deal for $10.

I tried everything. Finally did it with a screwdriver. I need to order some more supplies here shortly. Any recommendations for a mild flavor?

I purchased a Vector punch for $2 and it works well. Seems a bit better for the larger gauge though.
