You need the regional Fox Sports Cincinnati, and it looks like all packages with Directv have Fox Sports Cincinnati.

So that one channel would give me both the Reds and UK?

I don't think FS Cincinnati shows a lot of UK, if my memory is correct.

Yeah, not many, if any UK games on FSCin. I think with Directv, the only options for UK games would be when they're on the local CW (25) or Star64 (64).

I have to get a $12.99 per month sports package in order to get all but one of the UK games (they always have the one game on the channel that nobody has). Channel 642 is the one that usually carries UK. Channel 661-1 is the one I usually watch for the Reds.

 

Are you able to watch all the UK games on Dish? I've had both Dish & Direct, but didn't know if anything had changed. Direct is better quality, but Dish is by far the better price.

Correction...channel 646 (Fox Sports South) usually carries UK. With that sports package, there's only one game per year during the last two years that I've missed. This same sports package carried nearly 100% of the Washington Wizards & Sacramento Kings games, so I was able to watch Wall & Cousins play about every game.

I've been debating on making the switch. My neighbor went from DirecTV to Insight to Dish. He's been happy with Dish and doesn't see much of a difference compared to DirecTV. I've been debating on switching, but not sure. For comparable packages, Dish is about $5 cheaper, but then they have the HD for life deal, so it's about $15 cheaper on the package, but a dollar more per receiver. Up front, the prices are much better, but up front, DirecTV generally has good deals too.

The Reds are on DirecTV channel 661. Fox Sports Cincinnati. Almost every game has been televised.

My family had Dish from August 2001-August 2009. The positive with them was price & an ability to "talk them down" on prices or get a special deal. The overwhelming negative was customer service, which 80% of the time involved me talking to some guy in a cubicle overseas who speaks in very, very broken English.

 

Direct has far better customer service, but after your first twelve months, they really stick it to you in the monthly payment. We have two receivers, one of them HD, both of them with DVR, I think 225 channels plus a Sports package & it's been about $100 a month during the last twelve months...an increase of about $20-$25 from the first twelve months we were with them.

That's actually not a bad price compared to what I have. I'm paying about $92 for the Total Choice Plus (I think it's basically the Choice Xtra now) with HD. I have 2 HD receivers and 1 standard and no DVR. I need to replace my standard with another HD, but they want to charge me $99. I've been a good standing customer since '02, and they won't cut me any deals.

Isn't that great rate FREE? I thought if you signed up as a new customer, you got it for free this season.

I have had both and like Dish much better. I haven't experienced the customer service issue, the service always works, and the receivers are very intuitive.

neees, you are right, I said "a great rate", We might cancel and put it back in Mama's name. She said no, but I am calling and sweet talk them. Never had Dish so can"t comment, but cable will never see this sports nut home.

 

They will soon offer a reduced rate for the MLB package.
