How on Earth could the Nationals scorer give Morse a hit on the groundball to Cairo that he threw away? He would have been out by 10 feet if Cairo hadn't thrown it away. I sure hope Johnny doesn't throw a 1 hitter. That is just an awful hometown scoring decision.

Sappelt is a first pitch swinging fool. I have never seen anyone jump on that first pitch like him ... seemingly every at bat.

Cueto gets hardly any run support good thing he is a beast. It's a shame he is only 9-5.

He ERA has never been above 2.27 this year.

In 19 starts he has only allowed more than 3 runs once.

He has only allowed over 2 run 5 times out of that 19 as well.

He has only gone less than 6 innings 3 times in those 19.

In 6 starts in July he allowed 7 earned runs total and finished the month with a record of 2-2.

I really hope this continues next year. It would be a shame to waste his only "Ace" year.

^ His ERA and WHIP have gone down every year he has been in the league. Now I don't think it will go down again next year but I don't see any reason why he can't have the same type of year.

I hope you're right, but there about a million reasons he might not.

Cueto is only 25 years old too. He is starting to remind me of Pedro Martinez with his stuff and ability to reach back and get some extra when he needs it. Let's hope he can contunue to progress like Martinez did and that the Reds can lock him up longer term.

They already did that.

11:$3.4M, 12:$5.4M, 13:$7.4M, 14:$10M, 15:$10M club option ($0.8M buyout)

I said longer term, maybe give him an extension next year.

I don't think that is necessary. 5 years is a long time for a pitcher.

Phillips 4, Sappelt 7, Votto 3, Bruce 9, Cairo 5, Stubbs 8, Hanigan 2, Janish 6, Arroyo 1

The brilliance of Dusty Baker justs blows me away. Same lineup he used last night only changing the catcher in his lineup tonight versus the right hander. Fisrt pitch hitting Sappelt in the 2 hole again. What makes Sappelt a good 2 hitter? He doesn't give a leadoff guy a chance to even think about stealing a base. I guess Dusty was satisfied with the 2 runs this lineup generated last night. Oh well I hope Jocketty is making note of all these quirky things that Dusty does.

Or maybe he is trying to get Sappelt fastballs by batting him second.

I am not sure what facing a right handed pitcher has to do with the catcher choice.
