RACELAND — Raceland will have its inaugural Ram Reunion on Saturday at the stadium prior to the season opener with East Carter.

 

It’ll be a time for remembering and storytelling (some may even be true).

 

Marty Johnson, the president of the Raceland boosters and one of those responsible for organizing the reunion, has his own special memories of playing for the Rams — and a true story to go with it.

 

Johnson graduated in 1992, so his senior season was 1991. That was the year the Rams defeated Ashland for the first time. That 14-13 victory resonates as one of Raceland’s greatest triumphs.

 

Johnson remembers every play, every smell, every cheer from that night.

This coming Saturday begins early for the Raceland Fans and Alums! Saturday there will also be a "Ram Reunion" at the old gym and parking areas of Ram Stadium.

ALL former players, coaches and fans/alums are invited for a "Ram Reunion" starting on Saturday afternoon and leading to the Rams season opener later that evening. I have heard that former Raceland coaches Randy Vanderhoof, Bill Tom Ross (?,hopefully), Larry Heck and Roger Snyder will be in attendance along with many former Raceland Ramblers/Rams players and Raceland h.s./Raceland-Worthinton h.s. Teachers and Alumni.

Sounds like a great way to kick off the season. I truly hope Coach Ross is present for this event. Great coach and even greater man....he's forgotten more than I would ever know in 5 lifetimes about football.

Coach Ross is going to be there. He re-scheduled surgery to make sure he would able to attend. Other former coaches will be there as well. It will be a great time.

 

And of course, Painter is invited. We would love to have you.
