I was talking to someone, lets say very close to the NewCath program the other day. His feeling seems to be NewCath will be able to compete all year but may take a few lumps early. He said a big goal will be if that happens keeping the team up and positive, if so they will be more than ready when district play starts and feels they could win it all agin.

I think that they won't be as slow to start as 2006 or 2009 b/c they have the experience at QB and the weapons in the backfield. It will just be a matter of getting the line to gel. Playing Dixie and McNick in the first two games will force that process along quickly.

Being hearing too many good things about Dixie's running game, must be overshadowed by the Pike press. The back up QB had a whale of a scrimmage..I think Dixie wins this by 2 scores maybe more..alot of players back for Dixe and it seems NCC has lost a bunch.

I just saw in another thread that he is now back at Holmes. I believe if he had stayed at Dixie, he would have sat out football and maybe the whole year. I don't think he is playing football for Holmes either. With all the turmoil at the end of last school year, I believe he has some academic work to do to get back on track.

Easy answer, Pike isn't playing, and Dixie notoriously starts slow.

 

I think this will be a close game. Both teams are breaking in new offensive lines as each only returns 2 starters, so that's a push. I give NCC the edge at qb in this game as. Hitchew (sp??) is a gamer and has 2 years of experience under his belt. I give Dixie the edge in the backfield with the combo of Bruns and Justice. With Cohorn at qb, the receiving cores are probably a push as neither team has a whole lot of experience. Defensively, Dixie struggles stopping teams. Last year was the first year with Spritzky calling the defense, and I thought they did a much better job tackling. However, they've been fairly small and slow these past few years. The linebackers have the potential to be solid with Cohorn, Justice, and Moloney, but not sure about the DBs or line. NCC is generally solid defensively. I'm hoping to see a good, clean, injury free game Friday night.

Yes they do. I'm not knocking the kid by leaving him out. I just like the duo of Bruns and Justice better. Add Cohorn, and they have a triple headed threat in the backfield, while NCC has a very good duo in Hitchew and Hayes.

Just got word today thay Tyler Moore has ben cleared to play, so Dixie will have him back at reciever and corner. From whay I saw last friday out of Cohorn passing the ball, I give the edge to Dixie. And that was with losing Moore in the 1st qtr. I was up at Dixie today watching practice and I believe I was watching a very good basketball ploayer for Dixie on the field running routs and catching balls. And yes, its been a couple years since he's played, but he looked good. I had no idea who it was until I seen him walking off the field after practice with Pike and Cohorn with his helmet off. Would anyone like to take a guess?
