2011 Class 6A Preseason Rankings

Featured Replies

I also hear that he is a very little sophmore with no varsity experience at all. Not quite worth a #6 ranking especially when I know Coach Marksberry thinks they will be rebuilding this year.

I guess with ONLY a #6 ranking, Simon Kenton must definitely be in a rebuilding year. If this were not truly the case, the Pioneers would have shared the #1 ranking with the Rocks.

So, with Trinity not playing a game against in-state competition until district, where will they be ranked in the Lit Ratings, Cantrell Ratings and others that use their results against Kentucky teams to compute the rankings? Will they place them at No. 1 just for the heck of it?

Interesting question ...

It doesn't really matter whether or not they are listed in those rankings as far as I'm concerned. The rankings are always lambasted on BGP as being grossly inaccurate anyway.

Honestly I don't think rankings really means much. It's nice for the players and fans if it's a respected poll/rankings. It shows that people that follow the game respect your program and your team but aside from not it really doesn't mean much. I mean this isn't the BCS, last I checked it's not a tie breaker of any sorts for who makes the playoffs. It's just simply a talking piece, and based off the amount of activity in other similar threads I'd say it's a pretty good one.

I agree, how can you rate this many teams over St. X? Other than Trinity they have not lost to a team in Kentucky since Michael Bush's senior year at Male.

Until Kentucky teams prove they can beat St. X. I don't see how you can rank them over X. They've beaten Manual about 20 years now, always seem to thrash Scott County, beat Male last year with two sophomore running backs starting for injured players and beat Simon Kenton's greatest team ever in 2009. Dixie Heights? Don't think many people would favor them over X.

MB was a senior in 2002. Since then we have lost to Manual (03), Seneca (03), St. X (04,05,07,08,09 twice) and Dixie in 2004.
