Sadly it will be well over a decade before a new bridge is built. That bridge is a mess.

If there is a worse major bridge in the United States, I would hate to see it. Considering the traffic and economic impact of that bridge, replacing it should be the #1 road project in the country. If I ever broke down on that bridge, I would get out of my car and run as fast as I can to get off the bridge. Kentucky, Ohio and the US should be embarrassed.

Been across that bridge several times in a straight truck, didn't seem like a whole lot of room, let alone for a vehicle to breakdown, I oftn joke about "what if" but it's not as funny when something like this does happen.

I avoid that bridge like the plague. I'm surprised that there are not more accidents on it.

Hopefully they charge the driver with vehicular manslaughter if he doesn't make it....What a moron. How do you rear-end a car with flashers on driving full speed? You can see them flashing from quite a long ways off.

I would guess if they didn't find him yet he is probably dead.

I'm fairly certain we do not have a "Vehicular Manslaughter" charge in Kentucky. And even if we did, I'm not sure the charge would fit. It was an accident that occurred in a high traffic area where there is no emergency lane.

Would it be KY or OH though? Weren't the heading south from Ohio? How do you determine jurisdiction (or whatever it is) when it's a situation like this?

If he was speeding or not focused on the road I'd say wantan endagerment could definitely fit. Did a case study a few years back for a criminal court class and a gentlemen was found guilty for striking a man that was walking on the side of the road. They said the driver was drving too fast and not paying attention to the road which the court indicated that it meant he was acting without care or in disregard to other human life in the area or something along those lines. I don't remember the exact wording. He was charged with mansluaghter though, charged and convicted.

I think it's Covington's jurisdiction, that's who was working the wreck I believe.

I make the odds 60-40 in favor that the person who rear ended the car with its flashers on was talking on his/her cell phone. Nine times out of ten when I see someone driving unusually slow or somewhat erratically, as I pass them and look over I see them talking on their phone.

Interesting. How do they determine something like that when something occurs on a bridge? I mean is the bridge considered in one state or the other or both?

That's a completely different scenario from this though. There's a car stopped in the middle of the road, on a bridge, with no where to go.
