Not just 1 reason. I would love to have Papi sitting on my bench waiting to pinch hit compared to say Heisey or Gomes in a close game at a NL park. Also ignoring the money the Yankees and Red Sox spend and have spent is absurd. I wonder what the Phillies record is against the AL the last few years? In reverse order we have had the following winners since interleague play: Giants (6 games) Yankees (6 games) Phillies (5 games) Red Sox (4 games) Cardinals (5 games) White Sox (4 games) Red Sox (4 games) Marlins (6 games) Angels (7 games) Diamondbacks (7 games) Yankees (5 games) Yankees (4 games) Yankees (4 games) Marlins (7 games) 8-6 AL. I do not invest much in to gauging the dominance of one league over the other strictly based upon WS numbers though.

I'd say that's an advantage. I don't buy that much into strength based on 1 series either, but they must not be that dominant if they aren't dominating the WS and the NL has won 3 of the last 5 so maybe the gap isn't that big. Sure they can dominate the bad teams, but they aren't dominating the good ones.

July 4, 201115 yr AL is up 9-3 today, so if HT's count was right, that wraps it up for the AL regardless of what happens in the final two games still being played. Still, nice bounce back by the NL to get it close enough that they could have won interleague play with a good showing today.
