June 14, 201115 yr That's why I think MLB should realign by market size. Isn't that a form of baseball welfare or affirmative action? Seems a guy like you would be against such social engineering ...
June 14, 201115 yr That's why I think MLB should realign by market size. The big market teams won't allow that. Two 15 team leagues with a balanced schedule where the top 5 from each league make the playoffs would be pretty fair though.
June 14, 201115 yr As a Marlins fan I'm not so sure. Tampa and Philly are close to canceling each other out. And the future probably is brighter in Tampa than in Philly. I also think getting rid of the Mets is a huge loss... On many of their worst days, the Mets are waaaay better than the Orioles.
June 14, 201115 yr Plus Tampa Bay. I think they could win with AL Central or AL West. Tampa can't spend money like that though. They're run will end soon if they stay in that division.
June 15, 201115 yr This deserves it's own post. But here is Jim Bowden's crazy proposal. I like it! What about divide the country in half East/West?
June 15, 201115 yr This deserves it's own post. But here is Jim Bowden's crazy proposal. I have no clue what he's talking about for the playoffs. What happens when there are 3 teams left in each conference?

June 15, 201115 yr This deserves it's own post. But here is Jim Bowden's crazy proposal. As a Braves fan, yes please. I like it. This would work, even after the Rays move to Charlotte.
June 15, 201115 yr The plan I saw got rid of divisions. Two 15-team leagues. 5 from each makes the playoffs. I was interested in that at first. However, I read an opinion piece today that makes me hesitate. The rivalries would be lessened which would take away from the enjoyment.
June 15, 201115 yr I like it. This would work, even after the Rays move to Charlotte. How does a 12 team playoff work when all 12 teams play in the opening round? I'm completely lost.
June 15, 201115 yr How does a 12 team playoff work when all 12 teams play in the opening round? I'm completely lost. He does have a problem with 12 teams. After the first round he'd be left with 3 teams in each conference. Flies in the face of his argument against having a team sit out a round, if MLB adds a second wild card team to each league. To avoid that situation, the number of teams in a playoff, must be a multiple of 4. I do like the division layout, though.
June 15, 201115 yr Isn't that a form of baseball welfare or affirmative action? Seems a guy like you would be against such social engineering ... That's why I keep politics out of the sports forum. Another outburst like that, and you'll be permantely banned to the P&R forum.
June 15, 201115 yr The big market teams won't allow that. Two 15 team leagues with a balanced schedule where the top 5 from each league make the playoffs would be pretty fair though. I don't see how competing against teams like the Red Sox, Yankees, and White Sox every year is fair to the smaller market AL teams.
June 15, 201115 yr This deserves it's own post. But here is Jim Bowden's crazy proposal. He must have failed logic and math.
