Lucky , Rockmom's constant companion was injured this morning in an unprovoked attack by a husky during their morning constitutional . Hope all is well and Lucky recovers fully .

Awww...thank you KYT! He's in surgery right now. Hopefully, the prognosis is a good one.

Keep us posted! The Luckster is an awesome little guy, and he needs to get back in action to protect his mom.

I just spoke to his doctor, and I'll get to pick him up in a couple of hours. He had two wounds that needed stitches, a puncture wound and the rest were abrasions, bruises and swelling. He'll get some antibiotics and painkillers and will have to take it easy for a while. He'll be gimpy for a couple of weeks, she says.

So this was a dog attack? Hope he's OK
Yes, I think it was a Siberian Husky.

People who don't keep control of their animals should be arrested.

I think I've seen Lucky posting in P&R.

He has and some of his comments are very cogent and thought provoking .

Husky-German Shepherd mix. HUGE dog! Lucky's home, but the vet said he's severely traumatized. Which I figured would be the case. He's a highly excitable little dude, and never forgets ANYTHING. He was iffy around dogs before this, due to 2 other instances of being attacked by bigger dogs. Now I'm not sure he'll every recover from this. The vet said they couldn't put him around any other dogs because he got so nervous he was shaking all over. When we were leaving a guy had brought in a German Shepherd, and Lucky found the nearest human and hunkered down behind her growling. Anyone who's met Lucky knows he's always been a very confident sort of dog. He's not right now.

The owner was really trying to control her dog.. The dog was on a leash, but overpowered her owner. We had to get out of there quick, as the dog was still wanting to come after Lucky even after we'd moved well away. I don't know what it was about Lucky that she didn't like. She didn't even have time to "meet" him. When we come upon people with dogs, I've taught Lucky to sit so I can determine what sort of situation we may be facing. He was sitting, the dog took a couple of steps toward Lucky, and Lucky stood up, and then she just jumped on him and had him on his back yelping in no time. It was the most frightening thing I've ever been through with Lucky. The owner was able to get her dog off of Lucky, and the whole incident took less than 2 minutes from start to finish. I thank God there were no more minutes involved, or rockmom may have been an incoherent, inconsolable, blubbering mess.

Not the same Lucky.

Rockmom, sorry to hear about Lucky. Did you escape the attack uninjured? I know from 1st hand experience that it's not a bit of fun breaking up a dog fight. Did you get the owner of the other dog's info so they could pay for the vet bill?

I wasn't hurt. And I was so concerned about getting Lucky away, I did not get her information. So, I have footed the bill. ~$500 today, and we still have at least one follow up visit.
