Do you think he's better than Ryan Winkler? I know they are two totally different Wrs but RW went to Thomas More which is DIII.

It sometimes is difficult to predict what coach's at the D1 level look for. Alex Connelly from CovCath was 6'4" 180lbs, had great hands ran excellent route's was the state High Jump champ. He ran in th 4.7 range, which isn't great but is decent. He is a 3 sport athlete, who if he focus his time in the weight room can easily add 20 -25 pounds to his frame. He signed with Geogetown, where I think he will excell. Daniel Gold from Highlands is another very impressive reciever who ran great routes and has very good speed. To the best of my knowledge he wasn't deluged with D1 offers. Similar things can be said about Winkler, Leonard at Dixie and a couple of the Campbell County recievers.

 

So for Mr. Cohorn to get some looks at D1 schools is indeed very impressive.

I am with you on this. I think Cohorn hitting the camps etc. with Pike has brought him a lot of visibility. Maybe he will show me something this year, but there are a lot of receivers that didn't go D1 who I would rank above Cohorn. It will be interesting to see what happens. I wish him nothing but the best. It sounds like he is working very hard for it and I love seeing those kids that put in the extra effort get rewarded.

And who can afford to go. These camps are cheap price wise, but the travel cost really add up. I'm sure there are a lot of very good athletes out there who would love to attend these events, but to the travel cost don't go.

I talked to Goose's dad and coach Spritzky at Zeke's conference last week. Not only UK, UL, and Perdue showing interest, EKU, William and Mary, Columbia, Morehead State, Murray State, and some others have shown interest. Perdue and EKU are on him pretty heavy. He evidently has a real high GPA from what I hear. He is constantly training, not just on the field, but also in the weight room and with a reciever from UC that played with Grutza. He has excellent hands, as strong as he is he has no problem getting free off the line. In these national 7 0n 7 competitions, the cornerbacks are up on the line jamming. He has that ability to get free and get open. The top corner in the 2011 class, DeAnthon Thomas out of Crenshaw High was constantly getting beat by Cohorn at the nationals in Alabama last year. And I'm hearing Josh Harris couldn't stop him up in Pittsburgh a few weeks back. No disrespect to Josh or Thomas, who repectively have signed to play at UK, and Thomas, who was the no.5 recruit overall headed on to play at USC. Cohorn has increased his speed from last year, he could play D1 IMO.

Travel costs can be reduced if shared by multiple athletes carpooling together. Desire combined with creativity produces ways to make it happen.

No, but I do know him. Goose and my son played baseball together a few years ago. Pretty good team back then. Hatton, Higtchew, Teegarden, Fardo, Charlie Reekers, Chase Stanely, just to name a few. Goose has done well for himself. Hard worker in the classroom as well as on the field. I heard Hanover and Wofford or Wolford College was at Dixie last week to see him.

Goose Cohorn needs 114 yards to reach 1000 for the season. Hopefully it can happen this week against Ryle at home being senior night.

Goose is a great kid and deserves any opportunity that he gets.

I would say he outworks most, if not everyone in NKY.

Wherever he ends up, he will earn playing time.

Good kid, better hands, speed will keep him in NAIA. I think he will do well and get a good education.

Just to have D1 looks is impressive. Goose and his Dad are good people and I wish nothing but the best for him. I hope he makes the right decision though. Some kids have made the wrong ones just because it's "D1" and sat the bench and watched when the experience could have been alot more rewarding going smaller and playing from the start.
