I read in another thread that Zeke Pike's FB page is filled with posts from fans of schools telling him to come to their school. I'm going to assume that not all of these fans are teens. Heck, hardly any of them are probably teens.

 

Am I a prude or stick in the mud for looking down upon adults who post "please come to State U" or "We really need you here at State U" on an 18 yr old kids' FB page?

He can make it so that only his friends can post on his FB page ALOT of people do that; sounds like someone likes the attention.

I think it's pretty sad that an adult would stalk a HS player. Isn't that a violation of NCAA rules?

I randomly picked names from a Rivals site. Many of them have it wide open.

I think if anything it would push the kid away from that school.

I think it is pathetic for adults to do that. If its a high school kid writing it on there fine, I added some players when I was in high school. But no way in the world would I add a recruit or player right now, let alone write on their wall.

How is a high school kid any different than an adult, not saying it's right, but you did; most high school kids aren't in college.....

I agree and I am not sure but I would think that they would have to be associated with the school or and/or offering them money or another kind of gift, something like that. I don't think that just asking someone to come to your school is a violation. Then again with all of the petty/stupid rules that the NCAA has it may be, who knows :lol:.

High school kids are young and immature. A bunch of the kids I teach added Timmy Knipp, not because they know him but because he is a really good basketball player. A 16 year old would think its cool to add Mike Gilchrist, I don't see the what someone in college or older would get from it. Sure if you go to school with them and have them in class I could see it.

 

I'll put it this way if one of my students said they added a player and put on his facebook he should go to UK I wouldn't think twice about it. But, if I was doing that at 23 I would be embarrassed and ashamed of myself.

 

If you don't see the difference between a kid in HS and anyone outside of HS you need to get your butt in a local high school to observe how different they are. I know looking bask we don't see it that way, but spend 7 hours a day teaching them and tell me there is no difference.

Believe it or not a lot of people that aren't computer/Facebook savvy know how to do that. Setting your Facebook settings isn't exactly 2+2.

Lamar Dawson deleted his original Facebook page because after he signed to USC all of the adults that begged for him to go their school of choice began to badmouth him and say all kinds of stupidity to him on his Facebook page. Now his page is simply his friends, Boyle County fans, other football players he met on the circuit and USC fans. Based on what I have seen there are more adults begging these kids than high school kids. The high school kids don't care as much as adults.
