Highlands Players Sign Scholarships

Featured Replies

Four Highlands players signed their letters of intent to play college football today after school. Austin Abner (defensive back) signed as a preferred walk-on at the University of Illinois; Ethan Bishop (outside linebacker) signed with University of Cumberlands; Ryan Hahn (center) signed with Hanover College; and Daniel Gold (wide receiver) signed with Valpariso University. Also, Ashley Collinsworth, Cris's daughter, signed to run track at Harvard.

A Highlands guy to Hanover. It's been to long. My Freshman year 3 of the 4 captains were from Highlands and the other was from Campbell Co.

I like the fact that all the athletes who have chosen to continue to play get recognized, even though they are signing a Financial Aid package acceptance vs. an ahletic scholarship.

Congrats to all!

I agree. I know some schools are now also having academic signing ceremonies to recognize those students that have received an academic scholarship of at least 50%.

I could see Ryan Hahn being a DIII All-American before his time is up at Hanover.

Congrats to everyone involved!!

He's getting in at the right time. They have a very young and improving team. Additionally, their WR will be getting a lot of attention. He broke the National record for receptions in a game 2 years ago, and he will have a scout in the stands here and there.

Congrats to all of these young men. Outstanding.

Come on now. Don't forget the two young ladies.

Congrats to all the Bluebird Champions!

They will provide a valued spark to their college's programs.

Kudos from Lexington!

And unlike a lot of the other D-III programs that have moved to the big, slow O linemen system, from what I know from when my younger son looked at the school, Hanover prefers smaller, quicker and more mobile O linemen because of the O they run. If that's still the case, it will be a great fit for Ryan. He won't have his O line coach trying to pack 70 pounds on his frame.

I really liked the Hanover coaches I met, particularly the head coach. Beautiful campus also. Reasonably close to Cincy and Louisville. Just a nice school.

Congrats to all the Highlands athletes. Go have fun playing college sports, but remember it's about the academics first.

Congrats to all mentioned and Lauren Harret as well
