CINCINNATI - He is perfectly willing to walk away from football, he tells friends, if football means playing for the Cincinnati Bengals.

"I will never set foot in Paul Brown Stadium again," is how he put it to one confidant.

He continued, "I have $80 million in the bank. I don't have to play football for money. I'll play it for the love of the game but that would have to be elsewhere. I'm prepared to live my life."

I don't know why that link won't work, I got it from Lance's blog if anyone wants it but that's pretty much all you need to know.

Better hope whatever team he ends up on doesn't ever play the Bengals then...

Call me extremely skeptical that CP told someone he had $80M in the bank.

^ Still doesn't work and I don't know why.

I know I said that in my 1st post. :D

However, I went the extra step and posted the link to the blog. I guess I'm just nicer than you.:p

Am I really supposed to believe that Carson Palmer told a friend that he has $80 million in the bank, and that friend immediately reported it to the media? Seems like baloney to me.

With that said, there's no doubt that Palmer has enough money to live comfortably. Looks like those on BGP who repeatedly bashed CP9 will finally get their wish.

I fixed the links, there was period in them that wasn't copying correctly.

If only Palmer could take Mike Brown with him.

Call me extremely skeptical that CP told someone he had $80M in the bank.

I agree, Carson gloating about the amount of money he has in the bank doesn't sound like the CP I have listened to over the years. Then again, maybe he is pulling every bunny out of his helmet.

Call me extremely skeptical that CP told someone he had $80M in the bank.

If he did tell someone that I'm guessing that friend no longer gets the good info unless Palmer wanted it leaked which I truly believe is what happened the day of the Conference title games. John Thornton tweeted that day that Palmer's agent is a big time player and knows how the game works and how to work the game.

This comes down to the last two players at the poker table with a 50MM pot sitting in the middle. Who calls? Who's bluffing? This showdown will get really interesting. While I think it's fair to say that CP has banked his cash, I also find it hard to believe that he folds and leaves this much cash sitting in the "pot". That would be shocking to me. If he does follow through with his threat, then I think that speaks volumes about the deplorable conditions that exist within this organization. Having said that, I became a season ticket holder in 2000 when the excitement about the new stadium was buzzing a mile high. I have made a very tough decision to not renew this year and walk away. While I will continue to be a fan, there is simply to much uncertainty that exists with the labor agreement and this team going forward for me to continue down this road to perdition. My budget is much larger now for sports camps and other types of family recreation.
