I don't know how many turnovers they had but it was a ton. Many unforced. Mark my words-when the Colonels go down this will be the reason- and what the griping from the fans will be about.

Congrats to the Colonels. I am not sure what the CovCath stat crew had, but I think the most impressive stat to me was CovCath had 25 assists for 27 made baskets. In 18 years of doing this, I have never seen that high of a ratio of assists to made baskets. I also have 10 blocked shots for the Colonels which is a hard stat to record without a spotter. I say this only because blocked shots only occur if the ball leaves the shooter's hand, otherwise it is just a deflection and sometimes it is just a judgment call. Long story short, it is possible CovCath could have had more than 10 or less than 10. HC was able to force more turnovers in this game than back on Feb 4, 22 instead of 15, but we were unable to take advantage as an earlier poster alluded to. I will try and post the stats and play-by-play on cybersportsusa.com when I get home from work today around 3:30pm as well as the Holmes-Beechwood game. Good luck to both schools in the regional.

A good win for CovCath against a very scrappy HC team. Does anyone know the FT% for Thelen and for Burger?

 

For kids who are very good shooters it seems both have struggled from the charity stripe in the games I have seen.

Thelen was 6/9. Why did he only get 9 shots? I wasn't there so I'm truly asking. Did HC collapse on him?

The problem with the tourney is you see good kids play their last high school games. So, with that, let me give a shout out to some good kids. Hats off to Jerry Arlinghaus, Rob Bob Broering, Joe Allen, and Noah Knochleman. They represented themselves, their senior class, and the Indians extremely well. I've known Big Grin and Slim Shady for quite a long time and think highly of both of them. HC has given them a lot and , in return, they have given HC a lot.

 

If nothing else they'll always be the team that broke the streak.

I agree with everything but controlling the ball. They had way too many turnovers which did make it somewhat interesting as you stated. If they can clean up their turnovers, their chances will be as good as anyone's. They shoot well enough, defend ok (especially inside), and have a nice presence inside.

 

Does Holmes run similar pressure to HC? Have TO's been a problem for CCH this season? I didn't notice them much in the game vs. Dixie Heights.

They collapsede heavily on Thelen which is what allowed others to get wide open shots. CCH had many uncontested shots throughout the night.

Holmes does not really press full court with intensity unless it is necessary, but their half court trapping defense bothers most teams. They get a lot of back side steals from it. CCH will have to attack it or their guards aren't big enough to handle the trap.

With them returning 4 of 5 starters I would expect them to be very successful next year. From what I hear, they have a very talented group of underclassmen. They should be able to build off of this years success and carry it forward.
